I have been several times in the past few months and have always had great service and the food was good (mostly garlic chicken and rib eye). However, this is in the bar area and not in general seating.

Hubby and I go several to the Steakhouse several times a month. While I agree, the service is lacking at times, Rob (at the bar) does a great job. In the restaurant area, if you have a problem, ask to speak to James (not sure if he's the manager or asst. manager). He always takes care of the customers!

My wife and I go there a few times a month and have generally been happy with the food and the service. On the one occasion that the food was not to our taste, they quickly replaced it with something else from the menu. I often have the steak faitas and my wife the New York strip and are usually happy with the results. It is true that some of the managers who were there last spring and summer seem to be gone and some of the personal touches went with them. But we like it there as it is convnenient and the call ahead seating seems to work pretty well.

We have not been in a long time due to the noise level. We always thought the food was just OK. We now go to Bonefish all the time. We love it there!!

My wife and I have been several times... I've gotten the fajitas, prime rib, filet, and something else I can't remember right now, but the taste was sub-par and even applebees tastes better IMO (and is alot cheaper). I do agree with Dixie on Bonefish... excellent service and food!

I believe that all in all, Broadlands residents have to agree that there is a good selection of restaurants in our community offering diverse options and selections. Here in Pakistan I have a wide choice of about 6 places I can go to where the likelihood of suffering "ill effects" is minimized!

So everyone enjoy the local restaurants for me! I miss the Cheeseburgers from the Steakhouse, the bananas foster at 321, and the wonderful seafood selections of Bonefish!

some of us with food allergies know exactly what you mean! I have a very limited repetoire of restaurants (and the steakhouse isn't on it, but Bonefish is!)

I will repeat that we have had good luck at the Steakhouse on many occasions. I can't believe anyone would compare it with Applebees or someplace of that nature. I'm not saying the Steakhouse is the greatest, because it isn't but I sure am perplexed by some of the posts on here.

After living in Bethesda and Old Town for a number of years, I am glad to have Tuskies and Blue Ridge Grill and Lightfoot and others reasonably close by. I also think San Vitos has really listened to the comments on this board and are doing a better job than ever.

I have tried to like Bonefish because it has a really nice atmosphere, but we have had problems with our dinners on more that several occasions. I hope they can improve based on their pricing. And 321 Ashland seems to have decent food but the place looks like an old Marriott Hotel banquet room, not a cool French Bistro.

    That's my two cents anyway.

What kind of problems did you have there? We've eaten there on a regular basis (half the staff knows us), and we've not had any problems.

We visit the Steak House at least a couple times a month. I've always had a good experience. More than half the time a manager has stopped by to get feedback.

I also appreciate the fact they donate a lot of time and money to the local schools. Both Briar Woods and Stone Bridge have received donations. (maybe others) I also like the High School display cabinet. When the manager comes by, I always tell him the support of the schools is "one" of the reasons I patronize their restaurant. I recommend it.

If you have an issue with a quality or service anomaly, I'd suggest bringing it up to the management. They're interested in feedback, and also take action to fix the issue.

    Just my two cents.

    Neil,

I am not saying Bonefish is not a good restaurant, far from it. But we or someone we have taken there have had to send our food back for not being prepared as requested -- too cold, over-cooked etc on a few occasions. On others we have had no problems at all. And we continue to go there. They have always cheerfully taken care of any problems we had.

I was simply contrasting it with the Steakhouse, where we have only had a problem once and they took care of it right away. The Steakhouse is a lower priced restaurant so the expectations might be somewhat lower. But we have always, always had good steaks there -- far and away better than those at Applebees and have had friendly, courteous service.

Frankly, we are quite happy to have all of these restaurants located so close to home. Including San Vito as well.

I don't think it is fair to compare the Steakhouse with Applebees -- IMO they are in a slightly different class. A comparison to Outback or Longhorn would be more appropriate, and, IMO the Steakhouse is better than both of those.

Although, in fairness, I haven't been to the Steakhouse since last spring (when I moved out of the area). So I can't speak to any recent changes it might have undergone since then.

Naturally there is a broad assortment of traditional Pakistani, Afghan and Iranian foods available which I do happen to find quite tasty. The food ranges from kebabs to chicken baryani to different types of dal....the mullegatawny soup is outstanding. In addition there are Western/European style restaurants which offer dishes similar to those back home but naturally with the Pakistani flair and spices (also good). Chinese food is very good but prepared much differently...and in fact, none of the restaurants offer nor have they heard of General Tso's chicken. Typically most foreigners here will engage an experienced cook who can (safely) make a wide variety of international dishes and do a lot of home entertaining.

I have had very good experiences with the Steakhouse-it is my favorite restaurant in our area (although since they've broken ground on the Clyde's...). We also like San Vito and Cafe Opera.

On the same note as Carol, has anyone tried Moby Dick's House of Kabob (I think that's what it's called)? It's in the Ashburn Village Harris Teeter shopping center. Went there last week and it was YUMMY!!! And huge portions, too.

YES! Moby Dick is my very favorite kabob place. We used to drive all the way out to McLean, past all the other kabob places, because I loved it so much. Same owners at the Ashburn location. They are the best!

I rather like the Steakhouse although we only tend to go there when the Steelers aren't televised on network/cable television - thanks to a screwup back when Pegasus handled DirecTV, we're now on Dish so have to go out to see the games.

It's great to have a sports bar where you *can* take the kids. The food isn't bad either. Service is usually pretty good aside from management's refusal to switch up screens for games on the weekends, regardless of how many fans are making the request.

They could make it a lot better by making the whole place smoke-free.

    Tech-Head,

I totally agree with you. Smoke-free would be great!

Yeah, we stopped going there because it was too smokey. It's too bad too because we live across the street!
