The Learning Advantage (“TLA”) is a supplementary educational program developed to correspond with the Loudoun County Public School curriculum. It is offered via small, focused week long classes providing the following benefits to young children (grades: Rising First & Second):
    · Children who are struggling will become more confident and learn how keep pace in the classroom.
    · Children who are on pace will find that these classes give them the competitive edge they need to excel.
    · Classes are designed to make learning fun involving personalized games created to help children develop a positive outlook towards education.
    · TLA focuses on creativity – an important skill that may not be utilized to its fullest potential (as many schools focus on mandatory information taught by the teachers).

Camps will be run by a current LCPS First Grade teacher and an Independent Enrichment Specialist.

Below is our upcoming Summer Camps schedule:

    July 6-10 9:00-11:30am (group maximum 8) $200.00
Focus on Reading: Fun filled activities focusing on decoding and reading comprehension strategies.

    July 20-24 9:00-11:30am (group maximum 8) $200.00
Focus on Writing: Fun filled activities exploring and creating pieces from the different genres of writing.

    July 27-31 9:00-11:30am (group maximum 8) $200.00
Basic Reading & Writing Skills: Fun filled activities including reinforcement of sight words, grammar, punctuation, basic sentence structure and handwriting.

    August 3-7 9:00-11:30am (group maximum 8) $200.00
Focus on Math: Fun filled activities including everything from addition and subtraction to money and time.

Registration for classes is open and can be done online at www.connections4life.com under the register link. For additional information please contact amy@connections4life.com or (703)674-9615.

Please know that a portion of all camp proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis research.

Is there anything like that for rising 4th graders? We would have really benefited from this camp if we had known about it a couple of years ago.

So, still haven't found anything like that for the older student. Has anyone tried Time4Learning.com? Any other recommendations? (sorry to take the thread on a tangent...the camp noted above does sound great!)

I believe there is a teacher at Mill Run who offers similar camps but I'm not sure who it is and what grade levels..Might be worth asking around at the school.

It doesn't look like these summer camps are being offered anymore. Does anyone know of similar reading, writing, & math camps that are being offered this summer? Looking for my rising 2nd grader.

Nwfdrool... are you on facebook? A current Mill Run 2nd grade teacher is doing camps like that this summer. She posted on Ashburn's 'fan page' about it.

The teacher is Mrs. Frattali, and you can contact her through her email on the Mill Run web page also. She was my son's 2nd grade teacher last year, and she is awesome!
