Echo your post jim, we love the place as much for the people as we do the food.

I have chatted with Lalida (owner) recently and she mentioned that hardly anyone is taking advantage of the "kids eat free" night. Here is a chance for families to introduce different foods to their children (yes, they do have standard kids type meals too). Let's keep this place in business for a long time.

Lord! I am starting to sound like LoveItalianFood! :D

    T8erman,
Thanks for the shout-out! :D I took my parents to Anothai a couple of Saturdays ago and we LOVED it! I think we should all help keep great eating establishments like Catanuso's Cafe and Anothai in business. BTW...did you all see Catanuso's coupons in the most recent Clipper magazine? Good times! (Don't worry...I won't post anything else here about Catanuso's...I'm all about Anothai here ;) )

    Have a great evening, everyone.

Love - I had a slice of pie from Catnuso's last week and it was pretty darn good. Not the best I ever had, but good none the less.

I LOVE Anothai. The food is great and everyone we've introduced to the restaurant loves it too. My husband and I use to drive out to Arlington to get good Thai but not anymore. Also, the staff is great!

Our "kids eat free" is every Monday (dine-in only).

    Regards,
    Lalida.

I stopped by this swanky new Thai place today on my way home from the new movie theater and my curiosity about the new McDonald's landed me right there, at ANOTHAI. I just couldn't resist having a little which turned into a long chat with the very adorable Lalida :) Of course I did most of the talking so maybe that is why it was a great chat:D

Anyway we really need to support this wonderful addition to the community. We all know the food is simply the best Thai food bar non anywere in this city state and country and I am serious. Lalida is part of our community and takes such personal interest in all that come to her restaurant, with such warmth you feel like you are having dinner at her home and her staff is just as warm as she is. Everytime I go there with Dalyn or by myself I always leave with a smile.:) We are very lucky to have a neighborhood restaurant of this caliber and being treated like you are in their home like you are at a gourmet dinner party they are giving and you are the star.:)

You know even if you you are not hungry just stop by and have a chat with Lalida and tell her how lucky we are to have her and her restaurant as part of our community.

I did that today and what a nice little break I had in the middle of the day with a little long chat at our favorite restaurant and owner.:)

    Lalida,

I like your restaurant and food, however, to be honest, I like the idea of "Bufasa Thai House" (Spelling -- I can't remember exactly the name but it is in the Ashburn Village area) in Ruby Tuesday Ashburn better. What they have for their lunch menu is kind of attractive. With $8.95 you can get 2 dishs in 1 (e.g. Chicken pad Thai with Panang) or with 1 dish with a soup/eggroll.
That seems to get people like me who likes to eat different dish at once to go there for lunch.
Can we have something like that in the lunch menu ?
Also, it is great to have a good Thai restaurant in the walking distance :)

Thank you for your candid comment. We did think about that but didn't want to copy their idea. Since everything else in our restaurant (the decor, the food and the service) is quite unique, we want our lunch box to be the same. The lunch box is quite a deal as you get to try almost everything; soup, appetizer, entree and dessert. However, being a customer-oriented restaurant, we are flexible to our customers' request. Next time, please notify the wait staff that you want to substitute the appetizer and dessert with another entree. That way, you'll get 2 entrees the way you like it.

    Thanks again for your feedback.

    Lalida,

Mom and I had great lunch boxes today and we had such a great experience, My son ate the leftovers as soon as he got home from school!

In fact, mom was so happy with the meal, she said from now on, when she spends the night and we order out, it will be from Anothai, instead of the regular standby of pizza & wings, or chinese:)

Thanks for the great meal and the great service

    Heather,

No, Thank you for giving us an opportunity. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing customer's satisfaction. I will gradually introduce you and your mom to many of healthy Thai dishes that are not spicy.

    Take care,
    Lalida.

This past weekend, my husband and 8 month old were headed to Glory Days to grab a bite to eat. We got a late start, and after hearing that GD had a 40 minute wait, we had to bail. I remembered hearing good things about Anothai on this message board, so we decided to give it a try (the only reason we hadn't been there before is because I'm trying to lose baby weight, which means avoiding white rice, noodles/pasta, bread, etc.). Needless to say, Anothai held up to the reviews on this board! The food was very delicious and the staff was very attentive (keeping drinks filled is a key for my husband). Plus they played with our son, too! We will definitely be back!

    Lalida,

I like the lunch box, and the soup is good.
Over the weekend, I have been there twice already with my family.
    Keep up the good work.

Give the Pad Thai another try dine-in. One of the reasons I enjoy the Pad Tahi here is that it doesn't come all smooshed together, like stirfry left in the pan too long. It arrives with nice piles of fresh ingredients along with the steaming noodles/chicken. I don't think this would translate well to take out...as it would all steam along and get a bit soggy in the box.

(I do, however, always have to ask for a fresh wedge of lime.....it'd be nice if it came with it. Though, perhaps that's not traditional?)

As mentioned here, the food is great - but going there is part of the experience. I know that sounds a bit "froofy" but I'm not a big fan of take out. If I'm not cooking it, I'd much rather someone bring it to me - and do the dishes....

Finally last weekend, I found my way to Southern Walk and to Anothai. Had the seafood pad thai and it was excellent. Not overcooked and not smooshed. Husband liked it too, though I confess I can't remember what he had. Chicken curry maybe, extra hot. We will definitely return.

We just went to Anothai for the fist time last night. Great experience!

I had the softshell crabs, which were cooked perfectly (nice & crispy). My wife had the drunken noodles, in which, the noodles were not all smooshed together...excellent!

Even our 3.5 year old kids had a great time. Our daughter, who usually will only eat french fries at restaurants, absolutely loved the beef satay.

    We'll definately be back.
