We are moving to the Broadlands (Southern Walk) soon from another county and as we were exploring the area lately, my teen daughter made an observation that she hasn't seen one teenager in our adventures. (Think it was just a quiet day at the mall :) Anyone know any differently so I can quiet her angst? I'm sure she'll meet plenty at the high school next Fall, but meanwhile, does anyone know of any local church youth groups or such?

I know of three youth groups with great teens for your daughter to meet.
    1. Ashburn United Methodist Church- meets Sunday nights at the church on
Crossroads Drive in Ashburn Farm. It is called "Sunday Night Live" or SNL.
    2. Young Life group meets Monday nights at various homes in the neighborhood.
My teenage daughters go to that. They are also going to camp this summer for a week with Young life.
    3. Ashburn Presbyterian Church has a youth group. I do not know what day they meet but I do know teens in that group. You could call the church.
There are lots of good teens in Ashburn/Broadlands. There are probably dozens of other youth groups in the neighborhood, I am sure.

First welcome to the n'hood. Where are you coming from? I'm came from Arlington Co - Ballston.

Besides the church thing, I see some at the Dulles Mall and some hanging out at the various shopping center in Ashburn. Like you said, once she starts school she'll make lots of them. Unlike some areas where the parents might all be in the same age group, ashburn has all kinds, from the young (20s) to the retired. I don't think there's any one age group that dominates (parents/owners). Don't worry about your daughter making friends, just worried who she makes friends with.

That's a great start! Thanks to all for the information. We're just coming from Chantilly, but you'd think she was moving to Alaska! I was a military brat, so she knows better than to get me started with my "I moved every two years...you'll adjust!!" lecture :)-))

I am an adult helper for a wonderful group of girls here in Loudoun County, Ashburn Rainbow Girls. We have girls (ages 11-20) from all over the county, Herndon and Chantilly. We do service work and fun activities. Please check out their website for more info and pictures:

Rainbow looks great on their college applications since they get leadership and community service opportunities.

Email us if you need more info: ashburn11@yahoogroups.com

We will be having our induction of officers this Saturday right down the road on Waxpool Rd. Please let me know if you are interested in coming Ashburn_Rainbow@yahoo.com
