I have to agree. Thai Basil was OK but Anothai is the most authentic Thai restaurant in Ashburn. Great food and excellent service. The duck there is amazing as well as the curry dishes.

I highly recommend MyThai over in Brambleton. Very original dishes, good prices. It's a favorite for before a movie.

I have to say that I agree with Ozgood and share those same exact thoughts. I know the folks at Thai Basil pretty well and I live in Ashburn. If they had bothered to ask, I would have told them the exact same thing as stated above, and echoed by several on this board. In fact, their "market research" could have simply been this forum, if they had asked someone who actually lives here.

Speaking of which, the owner of Burapa Classic in Lansdowne actually has asked customers and friends like myself about potential new locations, and used this feedback when they opened their new restaurant in Winchester, which didn't have an influx of Thai restaurants. Also, from knowing the couple that owns Anothai, I suspect they did market research and actually had a business plan before opening.

Yup, Crane should be good. Kyle Crane is a local drummer who graduated from Stone Bridge and from Berklee College of Music, now working on a master's at USC. He used to play drums with various worship teams at Crossroads United Methodist Church. And he has a great sense of humor, too!

To follow up on this thread, the recent Throwdown with Bobby Flay featured Thai Basil of Chantilly and their pad thai. However, word of warning, they have been slammed since the show aired on Wednesday night with very long waits. And for those of you who criticized them for opening a location in Ashburn without the proper market research, you won't be surprised by the fact that there is no additional kitchen or wait staff to help with the multitude of new customers.
