With all this talk about the best views from those homes on the hill, etc. Here goes a question for those of you who live there or those that have friends there, how is the view 4th of July?

(the crest of Highview Trail or crest of The Overlook)

We live on Highview Trail, and weren't here yet on the 4th of July. I'm not sure any of us on this street were. But we'll let you know this summer!

In my opinion, the best view from Broadlands is my deck. I can see the highrise buildings in Gaithersburg, MD to Tyson's Corner, all of Reston Town Center, Fair Oaks, all of Dulles Airport, right down to the runways.
We can see many, many firework displays on the 4th. It's interesting because you see the explosions, but the sound doesn't reach you until a few seconds later.

I nominate Cliff to host a 4th of July bash this year! I'll bring potato salad! :D

Now I am curious besides the residential areas, where else one could get a good view from the top of an elevated area??? I know the Greenway towards Leesburg has a couple of those spots, surely not for public access though... Maybe I'll just drive around on one those clear days we are about to get (yeah right!) and see if I can find a spot. Not just for fourth of July, but for simple meditating and just plain o'l relaxing.

Sitting on my patio watching the ducks/geese/herons/bullfrogs/turtles etc on the pond is pretty nice...
