WOW....I'm surprised some folks would go so far to call the cops trying to get the summer outdoor movie nights for kids shut down. That's pretty unreasonable and UNFAIR to the kids. Where's the sense of community here? SMDH. I agree with Hornerjo that its indeed "Pretty Sad really". Its pretty lame for them to stoop so low to do that.

Another relevant tidbit on the Board of Supervisors agenda for tomorrow:

14a. *Loudoun County Codified Ordinance Chapter 1022-Snow Removal from Public Sidewalks (Countywide)
On January 15, 2015 the Transportation Land Use Committee voted 3-0-2 (Supervisor’s Higgins and Meyer absent) to send a recommendation of approval to the Board of Supervisors, to place on a future Public Hearing schedule, that the current provisions of Chapter 1022 be amended. The designated enforcement agency of the Chapter would be delegated as the Zoning Enforcement Division with the Department of Planning and Zoning and the current criminal misdemeanor provision would be amended to a civil penalty fine of $100.00 for the first offense of non-compliance and subsequent fines of $50.00 for each day the violation remains uncorrected. Staff recommends approval of this Codified Ordinance amendment.

Driving around the community, I can't help but notice how effective the snow stakes were in keeping the plows off the grass.
I know some find them a bit unsightly, but this storm alone probably saved thousands of dollars in landscaping repair.

Ironically I was thinking the other day in how ineffective they were along waxpool on the east side of claibourne. But it might have been the front loader work. For as big as the sticks are.. they were no match for the snow piles of this storm.

I was thinking there would probably have to be a big effort to go around and find all the sticks that were ripped out, broken, etc and reset them all.

Agree Steve, I was thinking that too. there seem to be quite a few sticks ripped out and on the ground. The force of the snow plow piles simply pushed many of them over. Generally, I think they were a good idea but this snowfall is not "typical"

"Great" would be an exaggeration, IMHO
