I am programming my thermostat and I just noticed that the factory default for "periods with nobody home" is Heat = 62 and Cool = 82. I guess this is for optimal savings - my question is: Is this safe/ comfortable for a 5-year old dog who has to stay home (because she doesn't go to work or school :)). What is your setting? Thanks.

Take mine to 78 ac and 65 heat. Have dogs never seems to be a problem. I don't let it go too hot/cold because I don't want the units struggling to return to normal.

I'm right in between the defaults and beahmer. I go to 80 ac and 63 heat - I have cats, not dogs, but they don't seem to have any problems with the adjustment at all.

AC at 85, window covers are drawn, and heat at 65 when no one but the animals are home.
