I'm looking for a good "local guy/gal" yard company to help me out this fall. I'd rather not support the True Greens etc around. Anyone know of a reasonably priced company out there? The local guy I had the last couple of years isn't so reliable anymore.

I use Bay Country lawns. Been happy with their service so far.

We've had some issues with Bay Country Lawns since they sold the company, so any new referrals out there are welcome. Thanks.

There are a few issues we're trying to resolve that involved their timing of applications that caused lawn burns.

If I recall correctly, the letter was received sometime late fall 2007.

when you say top dressing.... what do you mean? I have the challenge of a storm drain buried in my back yard that is close enough to the surface that I can not get good grass to grow on top and get a stripe in my lawn... I am considering some top dressing and some organics to help feed the soil there but not sure what is the best course of action really.

Top dressing is good for filling in low or bare spots in your yard. It's about and inch or so of soil over the entire yard. It's real good to do just after aeration. Best time is between now and September 15th...so I've heard.

Did the hubby respond to you with the name of our guy? I told him to email you. But you know how men are.

Oh wait. Did I just say that?

He's actually working right now... unlike myself. :screwingaround: I'm sure he'll email you soon.

But this guy did it for us last year, has done much of our maintenance for 2 years. If it weren't for the crummy sprinkler system installed by Biogreen we'd be golden!

Mental note...don't go with Bio Green for our sprinkler system. Just saw there truck around today and although the guy that was doing the yards didn't look to happy, I was wondering how good of a job they did.

The guy I used was Augie Echeandia. He can be reached at [Admin: Business no longer in operation. Number removed by request.]. Last year he killed about 1/3 of the lawn (intentionally), threw down seed and top dressing and our lawn has looked very good this season. I still need to tune up the sprinkler system but Augie's work did very well.

Please tell him that I referred him to you. There's nothing in it for me but the referral is the best compliment.

BTW - Biogreen installed our sprinkler system and I used them for 2 years for the lawn service (fertilizer, weed, etc). I "fired" them last year and have been doing my own lawn maintenance and Augie's been cutting the lawn. So far, it's looking better than ever.

    Now, sharse, am I forgiven?

It's not about me, dear. (For once.) I'm just saying if you ever want to be invited to another party at Phitnessfiend's house you might wanna throw him a bone.

I'll call him for sure. Thanks for the referral!
