I prefer WholePet food as well. I went to Doggone Natural when they first opened and was steered to buy this garlic additive for my dog's food, and it made him very sick, gave him severe runs, went back to the store to return it and was given a really hard time trying to get a refund for something that made my dog sick!! Started going to WholePet when it opened and my vet is right next door, so it's very convenient.

i am willing to pay more there for certain things- like my dog's food. a bag may cost more but he eats less since it's all protein, so i only buy every month and half, he is as regular as a clock, totally healthy, great teeth- his vets always comment on how wonderful his coat, musculature and teeth are. the organic treats and bully sticks are also worth it to me- no smell, no stains, no fake ingredients or sugar to make him sick or hyper.

if i fed my kid like i feed my dog, i'd be mom of the year! lol

I'm totally with you there.....same thing with our dog...totally healthy coat, teeth, etc. and I owe it all to the natural dog food we feed him.

I heard a bowling alley is already in the works and is a couple years out. Check out Brunswick XL. I have been to one in northern IL and be careful what you wish for with all the bells and whistles! It was more than double cost to enjoy a night of bowling - shoe delivery to your lane, leather and canvas couches, waitress ordered snacks and delivered to your lahe, games, etc. Awesome and memorable just expensive! So maybe a regular bowling alley would be more feasible.

I would love to see a roller skating place though!

I looked at the website of the Leesburg location and it looked like they were only open in the evenings and on weekends? Is that right or is it open during the day to take kids?

Have you tried those dried sweet potato "pigs ear" alternatives. My dog is in heaven with these - Target sells them surprisingly.

I might be wrong, but I have never seen a D&B located in the suburbs; they seem to only be located either in or very near to a major city.

this is an interesting place- Ashburn... not specific to ANY posts on this board, but i find that people say they want higher quality products, services and restaurants around here, but do NOT want to pay the premium that comes with it.

how many times does a place that's better than the cheaper chain version FAIL around here? it could be a sandwich, toys, clothes- think about the past 5 years of businesses around here... narrow it down to those that are good to excellent at what they do. who is successful and who struggles?

i know things like location come into play, but a bad location wouldn't keep me from a good business.

i predict that 5 years from now there will twice as many franchises and 1/4 of as many indepedent businesses of all industries here.

I think you need to factor in the economy. For many, while the chain version might be inferior, frequenting it means you don't have to give up something else in your life.

As the economy gets better, we'll probably see things flip-flop. It's cyclical...

I for one love the Dave and Buster's Idea... and TJ's....

However, D&B honestly needs to go to Reston... they'd make a killing and it's more "their type" of suburb.

Another good thing for that space would be a Buy Buy Baby... anyone been to the one in Rockville? It's so much better than Babies R US and they take the Bed Bath and Beyond 20% coupons because it's their parent company.

And if Ashburn could support something... I'd say that something is a baby store!

For us, the Brunswick XL would be a welcome addition for our family. Most of the XL's are smoke free centers. All of the current area bowling centers are filled with smoke. Even the Leesburg one still smells during their "non-smoking" hours. We actually drive to Bethesda and DC to bowl because of the smoke issues for our family- both Strike Bethesda and Lucky Strike are smoke free. They would do great here for families.

I just heard today from a friend that was calling into the leasing agent that it will indeed be a grocer, and the rumor was its either going to be a large asian grocer or, and I cant believe Im saying this, but ANOTHER Harris Teeter. They couldnt say till tomorrow, at which point I assume there will be some announcement.

If that happens, we should change the name of the town to Teeterville. Its just plain nuts.

Phew, thank goodness they are putting up another Harris Teeter. There is no way our community can survive with less than 5 Harris Teeters within 10 miles of each other.

Just the other day, I was driving on one of our roads and I never saw a Harris Teeter!! I thought I was lost or something!!!! Very scary being caught out of eye-sight of a Harris Teeter I can tell you!

A nice asian market would be a nice addition to our community.

    Ozgood-
Have no fear! I believe there are 2 other Teets coming to the Ashburn area. They're just waiting for the commercial areas to be built.
