So basically, Snow has found out the exact same thing that Cliff and I have been saying since day 1.

Claiborne isn't ... that's all that matters here.

It DOES matter when Claiborne is the only residential street to have the 45 mph speed limit. So when does VDOT take control b/c obviously there is a disconnect between Developer and VDOT AGAIN! The first with the lights themselves and now the speed limit. I don't buy the fact that it's b/c of VDOT regs. Then why isn't Claiborne 45 mph all the way? It goes down to 40 mph after the greenway upon entering Ashburn Farm. Total lack of consistency which means that Broadlands (Again) gets the shaft.

"...Broadlands (Again) gets the shaft." Please. If you're continually disgruntled with your perception of a shaft up the rear-end of the Broadlands...then move! Nobody is forcing you to live here.

You're complaining about a 5mph difference in speed limits. Surely you have less trivial things to worry about.

Some people aren't happy unless they are complaining

Did you say, "pull my finger?" No thanks.

Seriously, though, this is getting a bit ugly. Why can't we all just get along? We should all be happy -- the Red Sox just vanquished the Evil Empire!!!

    riiiight.

go type 'sox game 1' in and check out the prices. $70 from the ticket office beats $2000 from a scalper.

Neither Claiborne north of the Greenway, nor Ashburn Village, nor Ashburn Farm are under bond by a developer.

Once VDOT assumes control, we can do some changes to get the speed dropped. Which I suspect is what happened with all the above major throughfares. I also suspect that we will only be able to drop it to 40 to match what is north of the Greenway.

Now I wish people would worry more about those speeders in the actual residential areas, you know, the ones that are 25, where people do 30/35 !!

Some of us are capable of worrying equally about both issues. ;)

I do too, its just that I feel that one is more urgent than the other, after all, I don't see kids playing in the middle of Claiborne !!

All I know is that I was tossing and turning last night debating the pros and cons of a 45 mph v. 40 mph speed limit. Hopefully the little devil on my left shoulder that keeps telling me 45 is better will take a break so I can catch up on my z's.

For what it's worth I traveled on Route 50 Eastbound today from Rt. 28 to West Ox Road. I think we will all agree that that particular stretch of 50 is a commercial area and heavily trafficked. The speed limit through that stretch is 45. So...that being said, I guess we can compare and envision Clairborne as becoming another Route 50 -- NOT.

Again, I reiterate my former comments...I think the primary appeal of Broadlands is that it is a planned family community with walking trails, nature and more. However increasing the speed limit changes the equation somewhat. With faster traffic we also will have more of a noise ratio which does make an impact on health, safety and the wildlife that we have here.

I do not know the name of the street, but I think it is if you take the Loudoun County Parkway going past the Food Lion, through Ashburn Farm and ultimately to route 7, you'll note that the speed limit drops to 25 through the residential areas.

I don't think the increase in speed limit is going to have the drastic impact in our community that many of us fear. There just isn't that much road between the stop signs. By the time most</u> people get up to 45 MPH after going through the first intersection, it is time to start slowing down again for the next one.

And I don't know about any of you, but I haven't noticed a significant increase in speeds on Claiborne since the limit was increased. People that used to speed are now in compliance with the law, while I still see a lot of cars going less than 45 MPH. (Probably for the same reasons discussed above.)
