Anyone doing this race this year, or have you done it in the past? Wondering how hilly the bike course is, if this is a really crowded race, if I should find something smaller to be my first race.

    Talk to me!!!

From what I have heard, sign ups for Tri the valley have been very low. It got on the race calendar late in the season, and there are already a large number of races in the area during the month of september.

There are a large number of people from Broadlands racing the South Riding Triathlon 9/7 and the Taylor Love race on 9/21.

Tri the valley will be a VERY hilly course. I think it looks like a good event, but just got publicized too late.

I will send you a PM about an informal Broadlands tri club.

Hills are fun =) But yeah, for a first race, something flat and maybe a pool swim would be best. I did the Yorktown tri as my first race back in June and it was nice except for the swim which took a bit to get used to with all the bumping and stuff.

Those hills have kicked my butt in the past.

Can you include me too? on the informal club even though I'm from Brambleton :)
I looked at that other group out there that somebody posted but I'm just looking for informal training groups (where I don't have to pay to join group rides)

I'm doing the Patriot's half IM this year and am considering doing Luray again. Luray is super hilly!

You may want to try some of the Setup Events down in Lake Anna. Those are pretty flat. The Kinetic is good, but its early on in the year so the weather can be very unpredictable. Last year it was a monsoon!
