Nizam's restaurant is another great place to go for local Turkish food. Located in Vienna, VA.
Google for location and phone number. No web site.

Washingtonian magazine voted one of best restaurants from 1984-2006. Friends in Vienna told husband about it and we plan to try soon.

Yes, fellow foodies, I do cook alot at home also.

Also see new post under Mezza for Turkish food and coffee web sites.

I have been to Nizams many times and would encourage you all who go to branch out and try one of the other items on the menu. Most people get the Doner Kabob, which is good, just not the best representation of Turkish food (in my opinion). Mr Nizam will be the one walking around in the white Dr lab coat with a meat thermometer in the pocket... pretty funny. But the Doner kabob is the item that helped make Nizam so famous.

He is great to chat with and I also would say get the Turkish wine, I think it is great for the price (red).
