I want to put a TV in a room that has no cable outlet. I'm reading about Direct TV's Genie, and it seems like this could be a solution? If I have one Genie on a TV that does actually have the cable outlet, and then I can have a wireless Genie on the other TV in the room that has no cable outlets. Is that right?

Is it a blue tooth connection or similar and the boxes have to be within a certain distance of each other? Or could I put one of the wireless genies in another house because it is an internet connection? (We have a small cabin in the mountains and this could come in handy!)

If anyone has this set up I'd love to hear from you. Can I watch one thing in one room, and the kids watch something different in the other room? Any other solutions (other than the obvious -- actually running a wire) I should consider? Thank you!

Don't know about DirectTV Genie, but have you considered either the Amazon Fire Stick or a Google Chromecast? Both of those plug into the HDMI port on the TV and use your WiFi. You can watch Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and other streaming services like Hulu. With the Chromecast, you can "cast" anything from a computer on the same WiFi network, so if you can watch DirectTV or Dish Network on your computer, you can cast it to the TV with Google Chromecast. Just a thought.

You can hire someone to fish wires through the wall. Sight & Sound can do it, but they are expensive. I would try an electrical contractor. You may want to consider running other cables at the same time, like ethernet.

I have the DirecTV Genie and you do need a cable outlet in each room.
