Upcoming Forum Move!

Hi All,

we are finally getting to our migration of the website, and important for you all here.. the forums!

This move consists of

- leaving our current provider (yeah!)
- migrating the forums platform to vBulletin
- new domain name for the website and forum

This move is already in progress in terms of our back-end work, and should hopefully close within the next week or so.

What's this mean to you? We *may* have to close the forums for a short period (over an evening) to allow us to migrate the data. The intention is to carry EVERYTHING possible, but we may toss some things in the interest of time/effort. Any changes we are aware of, we'll be sure to notify you of.

What it will mean for you once the transition is done, is a whole new forum experience, which should be MUCH MUCH better. New features, new customizations, better search, etc. I believe everyone will be very happy with the performance and features of the new site.

So, this is just a warning.. good things are coming soon!

I'll say there are much better tools for handling undesirables and logging capabilities for uncovering people who like hiding behind other names too

part of the challenge is the host we are based on is Windows based with limited control over the environment. The original deployment was done to be cost effective as it was still a pretty untested idea. As the project has grown, and various other parts of the community's needs have increased, we have finally been able to justify to ourselves that the incremental cost is both needed and justified.

Doesn't help that our current shared platform's performance has been.. abysmal.

The new platform will not have that issue
