I wanted folks to have awareness, it appears we had a package stolen from our porch yesterday. We checked with neighbors for a missed placed delivery but according to UPS the package was delivered yesterday just before 2pm. We searched around the porch and garage and no luck. We are on Vestals Gap. This is the first time in the 15yrs we have lived here that anything like this has happened.

It is unfortunate that this sort of thing happens during Christmas, especially within such a blessed and fortunate part of Loudoun County.

Maybe UPS made a mistake and the package will arrive today. Please keep an awareness for any strange activity or people/vehicles following delivery trucks.

Was this something ordered from Amazon? i ask because someone sent us something and UPS said it was delivered at about 2pm. Well, of course no package. So the next day, we thought the same thing... but upon closer inspection, the delivery info showed it was delivered to San Francisco, CA! So, we called and complained to Amazon, but later that day, it showed up! This was through one of their delivery services and none of made sense. Hope no one would steal a package off of a porch for real.

It was probably delivered to your neighbor as happened to me on a few occasions, and vice versa.

I've seen the videos and read the news about package thefts, and it always has me worried when expecting something - UPS ans USPS have both marked packages as "delivered", and they didn't show up until 24-48 hours later....

Glad you got your package... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

I also had one taken, but was not from Amazon. Since I was home, had the garage door open, and was in the garage I'm wondering if the package was even delivered to me (or was delivered to the wrong address).

A few days ago there was an article in the news that said the last mile delivery service Amazon contracted to was marking packages as delivered so they wouldn't get dinged for not making the delivery date and they wouldn't have to work into the night making the deliveries. They would then deliver it the next day. In this case it was the USPS

Can you find and post that link? If that is true, those are some shady business practices. In our case Amazon used someone or something called "DropAir". UPS tracking showed delivery to San Francisco! On another occasion, Amazon was a day late. I called to complain and they extended my Prime membership by one month before I have to renew.

I've not seen the article, but I know as this did happen to me just before Christmas - Amazon "orders" showed UPS tracking number and package being delivered. I went to details and it said "Delivered to Dulles, left on the loading dock ans signed for by Garcia". 24 hours later USPS delivered it...

That is a little bit different. This is SmartPost where UPS delivers it and the USPS delivers the last leg. UPS delivers to the Ashburn PO and UPS marked as delivered because it was. USPS then picks it up and goes the last mile. Amazon generally does not use UPS and the missing packages are handled by USPS or one of the private contractors (ie Lasership).
