    I am wondering if the gardening gurus could offer some much needed insight.

    In the effort of going green (and not adding pollutants to our water tables) I am looking into using "natural" products in our irrigation’s fertilizer tank to feed our lawn, trees, shrubs and other flowering vegetation. Our system has several spraying heads and 6+ soaking/drip zones.

    Any insight into a product known as:

    Alaska's Fish Emul Fertilizer - it presents as a 5-1-1...

    How did you work in your gardens?

    My limited education tells me, that a really good lawn & bloom fertilizer needs to be in the 5-10-5 range.

    Would I have to supplement with an iron concentrate? And can too much iron burn lawns/evergreens?

    Thanks for the help.

    There is a great bumper crop Blue Mount provides. That has fish fertilizer and is organic.

    Oya - we had out soil tested before and after our big landscaping project and it's ph is way off;
    missing tons of iron
    in some areas (near our leyland, ottos, rhodies) it test well for acidity - which makes me happy b/c the FREE coffee grounds from Starbuck & hollytone are working.

    I was a bit curious if the fish emul had a "fishy" smell. In the past we put liquid ironite in our sprinkler system's fertilizer tank - I might add liquid iron as a supplement.

    thepea2001 and others--

    From one Gardening Guru, we "second" using Bumper Crop as a soil amendment. Merrifield Gardens at Fair Oaks and Blue Mount Nursery carries the 1 cubic foot and 2 cubic feet bags also. It is great in your veggie and flower gardens. We have used Bumper Crop for years in our gardens as well. We also compost our gardens which is great.

    Bumper Crop is an Organic soil amendment that is made by a company called Master Nursery. Web site info and links are below. Also, if you click on the "Home Gardeners" tab it will have the information on Bumper Crop as well as other products that Master Nursery has in its supply. The "Question & Answer" links are great as well as "Ask the Masters" links.

    www.masternursery.com (Master Nursery's site/info for Bumper Crop and other Organic Gardening products.)

    Good luck--
