    Hello,
Looking for a good quality vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter and is good with keeping allergens out of home. Are Dyson & Oreck brands the best?
If so, is there a certain kind you recommend?
Are there any other brands you recommend?
    Thank you for your time!

I swear by the Miele canister. It's sealed so well that you can opt not to use the hepa filter. It's lightweight and very quiet too. The only down side is the cost of replacement bags (no dust cup). They make uprights too. You can find an extensive guide at Achoo Allergy.

We bought a Dyson (not the "animal"--but the next step down) a few years back and that thing is awesome! I swore i didnt' need to pay that much for a vacuum....but we did. Although---wait for a 30% off at Kohl's coupon and it's a hell of a lot cheaper :). The amount of dust that ends up in the canister is baffling...but better in there than in my carpet!
