you know i don't recall allergies as rampany either as a kid. it must be really tough on the whole family to have to worry about someone unintentionally trigering a deadly reaction much less something as dtupid and malicious as peanut butter vandalism.

i really hope there is some way to catch the jackholes who did this- some one who bragged to their friends, and hopefully one of them will anonymously report it. sad sad sad.

Leaving the swim meet Wednesday night, I noticed the ABC 7 News van parked in the Community Center parking lot and so watched the news at 11pm that night. They had a guy live at the Stone House playground with a big jar of JIF reporting on the incident. Interviews with a number of residents as well.

Whoever did this is probably enjoying all the attention it's receiving. I do hope the police can discover who it is and throw the book at them.

If it was a teenager(s) and he/she bragged to any friends about it, it probably wouldn't take much more than a $1,000 reward to encourage somebody to turn them in. Hopefully that would serve as a deterrent for anybody else who's thinking about pulling a useless, unfunny, dangerous prank.

So where do you get chicken feet around here? The more I think about that, the stranger it gets.

Is there any way to desensitize children with nut allergies? It seems very scary and I feel for those parents.

That's a good question - there have been a couple of successful, albeit small, desensitization trials, including one in the UK last year. But frankly it's a scary thing to consider - I recall when my kids were younger their doctor telling us about an unsuccessful trial in which one child died. So for us, the risk was (and still is) far too great.
