Any one have any experience with the Stream vally vet on waxpool? I am currently using Old Mill and like the closeness of Stream valley, but have not heard anything good or bad about them. Any comments would be great.

We Banfield Pet Hospital inside Petsmart. It's wonderful. We are on the 'Wellness Plan'. They have different levels of service. We get two comprehensive exams a year, all shots, free office visits. There is an initial sign up fee and a monthly charge, but its worth it. For puppies, you can have a level of service that includes 'fixing' the puppy.

I have used both Ashburn Village and Stream Valley. Liked Ashburn Village, but they were very expensive, so we switched-we got a referral from a neighbor who had great experiences with Stream Valley. The people at Stream Valley are very nice, and seem to be very responsive to our dog's needs. We are happy there, and are planning on keeping them as our vet. I think they have great hours, too.

We've been there 3 times for emergencies (dogs versus ground hogs) and they were great. We use Clocktower Animal Hospital in Herndon for regular use because they are an outstanding facility with top notch specialists.

I have to strongly recommend and endorse Clocktower Animal hospital. Although not as conveniently located (it's in the Clocktower shopping center off of Centreville Road in Herndon, by Pet Smart), the care and attention I have received from them has always been phenomenal!! (sp?)

I do not have dogs but I have 4 cats who have traveled extensively with me around the world. When I was preparing to go overseas to the third world where vet care was either a joke or non-existent, Dr. Schwarz on his own initiative, prepared an extensive feline emergency care kit for my cats. He also showed me how to give them injections if needed and put together a booklet for me on various ailments, symptoms and how to treat them. He further provided me with his personal email addresses so I could keep in touch with him for advise and guidance which I did have to use a few times. He never disappointed me. His staff also sent me periodic emails just to let them know they were thinking of me and my pets.

Additionally, before I left for overseas and was in training, one of my cats became ill and required medical attention during the day. Rather than have to board my cat during the day with Dr. Schwarz, as one of his staff members lived near where I was staying, she went to my place during the day to give my cat its medication.

I have found Clocktower to be the most caring and responsive vet team I've ever encountered.

I have had bad experiences with Stream Valley and would highly recommend you consider Ashburn Farm Animal Hospital/Vet.

    Stream Valley cons:
    - everytime i went they were over booked which resulted in me or my wife waiting in the consultation room for anywhere from 15 to 45mins each time. This occured on at least 5 occassions. They clearly do not respect my time.
    - I would rate the care a FAIR
    - When my dog passed this fall they sent a generic card; something to the effect "Sorry for your loss". I know I'm being touchy, but they have her file, how hard is it to note that she is a dog and her name? I mean I was going their for ~8 months.

    Ashburn Farm:
    - never had to wait more then 5mins
    - I would rate the care as EXCELLENT
    - The doctor actually periodicly calls me at home to check up on my dog(she has an ongoing condition and is on medicine)
    - The receptionist is excellent and clearly has many years of experience in this arena.

Carol- My cat also goes to Clocktower and I love them. It is an extra trip, but so far they have always been kind and seem to really care about my cat. I took him there to get his teeth cleaned and they have an open window for you to view the procedure. I think that is a nice option only to make sure that everything is ok.

I've been an avid animal person all my life to include doing volunteer work with stray animals and have never seen the degree of true care and attention such as Clocktower. The entire staff is first rate. Another example of using Dr. Schwarz's services while overseas, an embassy colleague of mine saved a stray that was missing an eye and had multiple problems. Dr. Schwarz gave them explicit guidance via email and then when they finally returned stateside with the cat, Dr. Schwarz performed some of the procedures which could not be done abroad and that cat made a remarkable recovery.

Clocktower really makes you (and your pet) feel comfortable and at home!

We use Ashburn Farm Animal Hospital. We have taken our dog to Dr Grasso for 7 years now. She is really great with our dog - he has had problems with allergies and she has been a big help. Overall the staff is very friendly and if I need to get him seen right away they have always fit me in. I haven't used Stream Valley but I was thinking of calling them to find out about their grooming service.

We've taken our cat to Stream Valley around 4 times and we are very happy with them. We also took 2 injured birds that we found and they took care of them until they were handed over to the wildlife rescue folks. Doctor Corey and Chau are both very knowledgable and they take their time to talk to you and answer all of your questions. The staff is very friendly as well, and they know us without having to look up our records. We've never felt rushed and are usually in and out in a half hour or less.

A vet is not a fast food restaurant, you cannot expect them always to take you immediately when you get there.

    boomertsfx,

Sounds like your definition of immediate is a 15-45 minute wait for 5 consecutive visits. I'd like to see a fast food restaurant stay in business with that type of track record. I consider myself a patient person, my god, I went back for the 5th visit (after 4 consecutive waits of average 30 mins didn't I?). So, your snide comment is uncalled for.

I agree with boomertsf. I have been going to Stream Valley since I moved here a year ago. I have a dog and a new puppy. I may have to wait a little while (maybe 15 min) but don't mind that. Twice this last year they removed ticks from my dogs the minute I went in - no waiting and no charge. I have used Lynn the groomer who is excellent and have had my puppy in her training class - also excellent.

Previously I went to Ashburn Veterinary Hospital in old Ashburn and had no problem with them either - loved Dr. Jones but the practice got a bit large so didn't get to see him very often.
