Okay, I've asked this before, but still can't get it to work. Does anyone who is in Southern Walk, Broadlands use a VPN connection for work? I've got to work at home tomorrow and I need to use the VPN, but have found that my computer doesn't even *try* to connect before rejecting it. Is there some sort of special setting that I'm missing? How do I even attempt to adjust the configuration on the router? Do I need to call Openband? Help! As a last resort, can any of you recommend a computer tech to help? (I work in IT, by the way, so I'm not completely helpless!)

    Thanks!

I have tried and failed as well. I gave up after wasting what I believed was a sufficient amount of time on it. It really wasn't that important for my job.

Oh, and I live in Southern Walk (Openband) too. Maybe it is just a coincidence?

What VPN are you trying to use? And are you going through a local router? Firewall?

I'm just trying to use windows VPN. I'm going through the router that's stuck the wall in my garage, I suppose. I've disabled the firewall and I seem to be connecting now, but get this message:

one or more requested network protocols did not connect successfully.

So I seem to be connected, but can't connect to the intranet at work. Ugh..

Well, it's quite silly, really. I simply hadn't indicated that it was a PPTP client. Also, I had to disable my firewall -- not the windows firewall.

Personal firewalls sometimes do not play nice with VPN clients. Depending on what firewall you are using, you may be able to create some custom/advanced rules to allow the connection out. I had to do that with my work laptop so I could connect home.

I also work from home using a VPN connect. I do not know the details of the connection since my company sent a tech out to set everything up. I have noticed though that on some days the VPN will not connect but then if I shut the openband box off/on and try again, I'll usually have no problem.
