VULTURES – INVALUABLE FRIEND, UNFORTUNATE UNDERDOG ―

    Tuesday, November 17, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Ashburn Library.

Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy for an insightful and exciting program on the life and times of our vultures. Vultures are one of our most misunderstood yet valuable wild creatures; yet, in our area, they have been tormented and sometimes killed by those who are afraid of them, don’t like their looks and don’t understand or appreciate their role in our ecosystem. Through this program, we will share some amazing facts about these birds, discuss their migratory and roosting practices, demystify their behaviors, and discuss how towns across the country actually celebrate their arrivals each year. Whether you are already a fan of these birds or just curious, come out and learn more about them. Live vultures will be present as part of the program so you can get to know vultures first hand, and handouts will be available. We will also have two great vulture door prizes so be sure to come early to sign in. This program is perfect for the whole family.

The Ashburn Library is located at 43316 Hay Road in Ashburn. Questions, please contact Nicole Hamilton at nhamilton@loudounwildlife.org.

Aren't they cute and cuddly looking? Kind of like a teddy bear!

It was a great program. These birds do a great service to the environment and human's well being. I must say they look kind of "ugly" but at the end of the presentation, I was able to see them in a different way. Kind of as a "good guy"...

Went to the presentation with my 4th grader. It was a full house and the information was great. Great program - thanks for posting.
