Anyone know whats up with the widening construction on Waxpool between the toll road bridge and Ashburn Rd.? It seems like they'll do nothing for a month and then one day they'll get quite a bit done. I realize the current weather is probably prohibiting them from working on it much, but this was all during the summer as well. Does anyone know what the ETA is for this to be completed?

It's not really in the Broadlands, but close enough. :)

It really is hilarious. I think it's the longest widening project in history!

I think the hilarious part is that ridiculous divider curb at the entrance to Parkside townhouses across from Ashburn Road. Take a look at that thing, it's about 2.5ft tall (I'm assuming they're going to pave around it to shorten it, but it looks ridiculous currently).

It looks to me like there will be easier/faster access to the tollroad from Broadlands once the construction is finished. I notice that when I get onto the toll road heading East, before taking the ramp, you can see where that road (772?) looks like it is going to continue straight through to the back end of Broadlands by the new VM townhouses.

Nobody has any info on this? I was hoping some people from Carisbrooke would be members here and chime in (even though they're not in the Broadlands).

It's not just Carisbrooke. This is a joint undertaking paid for by Broadlands, Carisbrooke, the new apartment complex, and the Parkside at Ashburn townhouses.

I meant because the construction has cause a stagnant mess in their back yards, some of them may be more inclined to have asked 'what's up' and been able to relay it here...not who was paying for it.

Looks like they're taking advantage of the break in weather today to get some work done. There's a small crew out theregrading this morning.

I noticed it, too, brim. Maybe they'll get everything done soon.

How in the world can you blame it on unions! Virginia is a right to work state and has barely any unions working construction. I can assure you this is not a union job. In fact when unions are responsible for projects the always finish their job on time and below budget. If the Springfield Mixing Bowl was a union job, they would not be so over way over budjet and would have been finished on time. Before you make such ignorant statements, check your facts. You Republicans always are spreading lies and I'm for one sick of it!
