Wegman's Leesburg And Other Updates

As I previously informed "y'all", the new Leesburg Wegmans probably will not break ground until 2009 not 2008! I just had another meeting in Rochester, NY where the store is headquartered; and the management reported that it probably will be 2009 not 2008. Wait and see kinda timing--I guess!! I am consulting with Wegmans for a kids club on nutrition, etc. which is why I have "inside" information!

If anyone is still interested in forming a 4H or Home Economics workshop/club involving new moms, kids, and families please email or post on forum. I am freelancing articles on all types of money-saving information for grocery shopping and coupons offers, etc. Since I am a food scientist and have studied Family and Consumer Education focusing on Consumer Education (which is part of my degree and working currently on my Registered Dietitian and PHD in Food Science/Nutrition)--I am well-versed in the subject(s).

For all of those concerned about multiple births--we are doing fine! Thanks for your interest or not! Just kidding!!

Trader Joe's stores plans for stores in Ashburn and Leesburg are in the planning stages. SUPERTARGET is breaking ground across from the Sterling Wegmans store. Due to open within a year or so. Target Greatland will still open in Moorefield Station as planned for 2007 or later. Check out Lerner Enterprises web site under Dulles 28 Centre information to see plans. I also have a friend with the county who informs me periodically of recent development news.

I will keep you informed if asked.

 

Do you know where the Trader Joe's will be? Also any word on a WholeFoods Market? Thank you for the info!

 

I'm really surprised about having two Targets so close together...even though one is a SuperTarget and the other is Greatland Target....Can't wait for Trader's Joe's to open....love that store...keep us posted on that one...and I too am interested in where in Ashburn it will be located.

 

I thought I read somewhere that Whole Foods was going to open a big store somewhere in the area. Does anybody know anything about that?

 

Whole Foods is opening by late Fall 2006 or Winter 2007 to open a Whole Foods Flagship store (like at CNN Time Warner's in New York) at Fair Lakes Parkway by the ****s Sporting Goods store near Fair Oaks Mall area. The store will be 80,000 square feet with a sushi bar, cafe, chocolate fountain, pizza station, etc. Similar to a small Wegmans concept but an organic foods concept.

Whole Foods is a tenant for Madison Realty (check for spelling?) who is developing Belmont Village Center. Look at their web site plans.

Trader Joe's will open in about two years--they won't say where they will put their stores until a year or so beforehand. Moe's Grill will open a store in Ashburn near Beaumeade office park this year also. Check out a restaurant new to the area called Eggspectations. They are opening in Chantilly in July 2006 near Westfields Boulevard area. They are from Canada and a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner place. We visited them last year in Canada. Great food!!

It was announced today (in the Loudoun Times Business Section Page B8) that the Village of Leesburg project will have EGGSPECTATIONS restaurant--their 1st location was in Fairfax County in Chantilly at Westfields Blvd. EGGSPECTATIONS is a Canadian-based restaurant that was franchised in the MD/VA areas. Great breakfasts, lunches, and dinner menus.

Also, Wegmans pad site delivery will be in the latter part of 2008. Good eats--and easier to get to hopefully!

Any update on a whole foods? It is so hard for me to understand how Loudoun Co. does not have one?

Yes, Whole Foods (WF) in Fairfax (their "new prototype"--give it a try if you haven't been yet!) told me today that as soon as Richmond's new store in Glen Allen, VA (near Short Pump Mall) opens in 2008--WF will most likely open a Loudoun County location in 2 to 3 years near LCP.

Fairfax WF is open from Sunday to Saturday 8 am to 9 pm. Early Saturday mornings as the best time to shop if you work or early Thursday and Friday mornings if you shop during the week.

We shall see.

Awesome! I LOVE Eggspectations - any place you can get breakfast all day is aces for me. And their pastries are divine.

 

I LOVE the FairOaks WFs! I just wish it was not such a drive, but I do end up going there almost once a week anyway. Too bad it is going to be 2-3 years until we see a store like that closer. Thanks for the info.
