Should have been more specific, was referring mostly to the tidewater area.

I know that some people are not happy with the snow removal services, but I’m fine with them. We’ve had a plow come down our VDOT street once this winter and a sand truck three times. We’re a cul-de-sac with only about 20 houses, so I imagine we’re pretty far down on the priority list.

We were stuck here for about 36 hours after the big storm before the snow on our street had been packed down enough for our cars to navigate it (the plow didn’t come until Wednesday) but my husband, who just *had* to get to the ABC store found a neighbor with a truck who was more than happy to give him a lift.

I’d much rather my tax dollars go towards education than snow removal. But it’s easy for me to say that because we’re lucky that I do all my work from home and my husband is very flexible on when he has to drive out.

And you must not be a Type A person like I am and just can't stand not being able to get out....that and the fact I grew up in WNY and am used to roads being plowed. :)

anyone else notice the de-icing agent that was put down on the main roads today? I can't recall seeing this before any other winter storm.

Ironically I saw it on waxpool and not on some other more major roads. Having them pre-treat waxpool certainly seemed 'new'.

It's probably all they have left after using up all their other materials during the previous snowstorm :pofl:

I've noticed it on 28 just before all of the expected snow storms this season

Well, not everything is fine. Depends on where you are headed. Took my son to school and the parking lot and roads getting there were all sheets of ice. (in Brambleton)

i slid RIGHT into the intersection today since it was a sheet of ice- i was on Demott and slid right into Ashburn Village Parkway. Luckily the person coming saw that i was unable to stop they slowed down and let me sail across the road...

    good times. :shakehead:

yeah- YOU are probably the one smart enough to recognize that i was NOT stopping and slowed down! lol

but Buffalo or not- you would not have had any choice but to keep sliding- i wasn't even going 15 mph. no skidding, just ice skating until the ice ran out...

You and me both - on Demott and went involuntarily ice skating coming to that stop to turn on to Ashburn Village Parkway. Luckily I was able to avoid the car that was stopped in front of me... I wasn't even doing 10 mph. It was mainly b/c the road was a sheet of ice in that area.

Where are you all talking about? Demott Goes from Broadlands Blvd, across Waxpool, down to Ridgeway in front of HT.

Or are you talking about there at HT? Since the 'other side' of the Greenway is AV Parkway?

Edit: sorry, i see google calls it Ridgeway.. but bing calls it Mooreview.. and I think bing is right :)

Google also calls it ridgeway down in front of the shopping center.. which should be wynridge I believe (bing is also right here)

No wonder people get screwed up around here :)
