at the restaurant you are eating at? We had that happen yesterday at a TGIF's in Bowie, MD where we stopped around 1 PM to catch some of the game (GO REDSKINS!) after a soccer game out there. After our drinks had come and the noise died down from the game during a commercial break there was a lot of loud noise coming from kitchen. Then we heard screaming, swearing and some pretty loud slaps along with seeing a number of waiting staff hurrying on back there. Eventually it was broken up and police came. Normally we would have gotten up and left, but we were so hungry and to their credit the staff did recover quickly and serve the customers normally.

I would not get involved, especially if the police are there.

Besides you might be able to finagle a free dessert. :)

Now if I heard screaming, swearing, loud noises and cat meowing, I might leave LoL

When I was in college, there was a Chinese Buffet that we always went to (cause it was cheap) One day while eating lunch, and we had just sat down, there was a huge fight that spilled into the main area of the restaurant. It was like a Jackie Chan movie but with knives and broom handles being swung. We bolted out of there quickly, a buddy of mine grabbed a huge tray of egg rolls and some crab wontons in the confusion, so it wasn't a complete loss. The police and state troopers showed up and arrested several people and the restaurant was closed for about a week.

First, I wouldn't stop in Bowie. I grew up in southern P.G. county, but I wouldn't go back and when we do drive through, we don't stop.

Well, if you have a hot tempered Italian family, with Greek blood thrown in for good measure - you sit back and sigh, and feel right at home.

As a person who has worked in restaurants for quite awhile this is sometimes more common then you might think. It's a good idea that if it gets that raucous to probably go eat somewhere else though...

Every restaurant has their drama and in-fighting though. It's normally just part of the job.

Always makes for a good story later though!
