I have the same type in my mulch bed and hated it so I sprayed some weed-killer on it. Not sure what the name is...but its a weed nonetheless! Didn't want to spend LOTS of time pulling it out so spraying was an option to me that saved me lots of time.

I don't recall the name here but I'll get the name to you. I just tried it a week ago so am waiting for the weeds to FULLY die off first. But what did you try tho? Maybe its different or same as mine? Let me know.

I think that weed is known as Chickweed.

Looking around Ammonium Sulfate or Glyphosphate herbicide or even boiling water or vinegar apparently.

From a random website "Nonetheless, find you are unable to remove chickweed from garden areas, chickweed can also be cultivated as a crop. It can be grown in gardens and used in place of lettuce in salads." :)

I think that's the same one, if Im not mistaken...I'll have to look into it. Did you apply it on a day where there's no rain the day of or for a few days afterwards? Im confident that you probably know that it won't work if it washes off with rain afterwards-

    Update:

Boiling water does make it unhappy, but it also kills the grass as I found out.

The Loudoun gardeners at the farmer's market recommended Roundup (no way, kills everything in sight basically) and Finale (have not looked into yet).

Mine was Roundup too...and it worked on SOME of it and some still survived...so I had to pull most of it up and some of it was able to be raked up...Pain in the arse, yessiriee.

This weed was abundant this year and with all the rain it was quite easy to uproot by hand. It hasn't returned.

That looks like common chickweed, Stellaria media, and it has been very aggressive this spring. It is not very persistent and generally easy to kill in my experience, but as someone said, it is also very easy to hand pull. Finale is also a non-selective herbicide that will kill just about anything it touches. It's main selling point is it works much faster than roundup.
