Does anyone know what's happening on LeFevre Inn Drive? Looks like there is some digging going on at the Waxpool intersection and Miss Utility has painted pretty lines on the yards of all homeowners living on the East side of the street.

    Thanks!

Looks like I can reply to my own post! (kind of like talking to myself...)

Verizon left a flyer on our door today. They are apparently installing a fiber line to support FiOS. The contractor said they will be digging up all yards on the East side of Lefevre Inn from Waxpool to Ellzey. Not sure where they will go from there.

Took a walk past there today. Husband asked the crew about it and was told they’re running it to Hillside Elementary.

Interesting advice below from AVS Forum which could be useful for some homeowners who think they may not be eligible to have Fios. If it’s true that Fios was deployed along Lefevre Inn Dr, it could be probable that those who live there (or who live near there) are eligible to receive fiber, too, if they wish.

    Answer from bfdtv:

Make sure you always use the address qualification page, cause the phone number qualification will almost never give a reliable result unless you have local telephone service with Verizon.

If you are certain your neighbor has FiOS, but the page says you do not qualify, here is what you do: 1) you call to order; 2) when they say you do not qualify, you tell them your next-door neighbor has FiOS service; and 3) you give them the name, phone number, and address of the neighbor with FiOS service so they can confirm that in their database. If you get a competant rep, they will send a note to engineering with that information and ask them to confirm whether or not you qualify. Within anywhere from one-day to two weeks (depending on when they are next in the area to check the pole), your address will be fixed in their database and you will be able to order.

It is very common for addresses at the end of streets, corner of streets, at the edge of zip codes, and near commercial areas to be missing from their database. The representative is not able to place an order for service until you are in the database.

Just highlighting alternative paths to getting more fiber in the north, if the residents still have an interest.

My understanding is that they are just running the line to the school. At least they now know Broadlands exists!

I did talk to the contractors running the line. They confirmed that it was a dedicated fiber pull to Hillside elementary and not accessable to the residents along it's path. They said a different cable would be pulled for residental FiOS in the future.

But they did do a nice job. No real complaints on the holes they dug. They even watered my grass in the areas they dug every day they were still here working on the street.
