There's a bike shop over in Ashbrook Commons. Are you talking pedal bikes or Harleys. If Harleys then Ashbrook won't help you.

Yeah, I know, but it would be nice to have one a little more mom and pop-ish.

    I use Spokes anyway...

    1. Book store.
    2. A place for live music like Jammin Java in Vienna.
    3. Pool hall
    4. Gastro Pub
    5. Indie record store
    6. Indoor sports complex
    7. More grocery stores. Only 3 are with in a 5min walk of my house. This is unacceptable!!!!
    8. Water Park/Go-Cart Track

I totally agree with 1 and 2. While it isn't a pool hall, coming soon to the new Wegmans shopping center in Leesburg is a bowling alley. Maybe they'll have pool tables, too. The Dulles Sportsplex is pretty close to Ashburn. As far as an indie record store, I'd like to see a good used books and music store like Half Price Books (which we don't have in this part of the country).

much of that list exists just over in sterling. Why would anyone open in ashburn, just minutes away from the same niche thing, in more expensive ashburn with less available space of the type you need.

The Gokart track in Sterling was of decent caliber.

Water Park.. was on Rt 28.. closed a few years ago.
Pool Hall.. they are closing all over the place and is a dying industry. The alternative more upscale places are out there.. there is one in cascades.

Probably cause the title of the thread is "What is missing in Ashburn" not "What do you like in Sterling."

i giggled at that statement since ashburn is notorious for duplicating businsses within a few MINUTES, withIN ashburn! :p

there are plenty of play alternatives that don't duplicate what's in sterling:

    bumper cars
    arcade (Dave and Busters style!)
    indoor skate park
plenty of others but i should REALLY be working right now instead of wishing for a recreational family fun center...

are people so selfish and lazy they aren't willing to drive 10mins to get to a niche business and expect the world to come knocking on their doorstep?

oh wait.. we want them in our backyard to service us, but we don't want them in our backyard when someone else needs it...:rolleyes3:

If people aren't willing to drive 8 minutes for a niche business... they probably aren't willing to pay the price a niche business demands.

lets change the thread title to 'what do we want to have in ashburn, and have close in 12months'

I would love a book store. If anyone lived in Atlanta, do you remember Oxford Books? Wonderful books and they served coffee and some food (long before other books stores began doing this).
