    Better DIY Car Care:

I'd like to see an Advanced Auto / Autozone / Pep Boys, etc. auto parts store.

A place for recycled oil and cardboard. While I enjoy the drive out to the county landfill, something closer would be nice.

I'd like to see a nice hand/wand car wash, similar to the wand bays off of Sterling Blvd. The Sunoco is too hard to get in and out of unless you have a SUV, my lowered vehicles just crunch and even our Odyssey has issues. :( The Exxon by Home Depot has the spinning "scratch" pads. :( There is the long drive through by the old Food Lion but I think that also has the big rotating brushes. By my office in Merrifield, the Sunoco gas station has a simple drive though, nothing on the ground to interfere with the wheels, sensors tell the driver when to stop.

There's one in Sterling and one in Leesburg and they're never that crowded. Can't imagine one could be sustained in between also.

    Good point.

There is an Advanced Auto in Herndon but I didn't recall the one in Leesburg. There are a couple of Fairfax County Autoparts stores around, Chantilly was the closest.

There are three non-gas station car wash places that I know of in Ashburn. One is by IHOP/Fuddruckers, one on Claiborne near Ashburn Farm Blvd., and one by the car dealerships near Wegmans. I don't know if those are the kind of places you meant or if you mean the ones where you wash it yourself.

I agree about the AutoZone type places - we need to pick up some touch up paint for our car and, while the auto parts store in Sterling by Target is not that far, it would be nice to have a place in Ashburn to get wiper blades, floor mats, etc.

Redon, while Panera is not an independent cafe, they do have WiFi.

    My 2 cents:

    - A real southern food joint (think Memphis or New Orleans)
    - Cracker Barrel... I like IHOP, but Cracker Barrel has them beat, IMO
    - A real bakery

Yeah I know they do- I use to sometimes, but I'm not always a big fan of their coffee. The food is decent though, and it IS comfy. that IS the only cafe option in Ashburn... at least it doesn't suck! :)

Don't we need an Interstate before getting a Cracker Barrel? Isn't that the rule? :p

It would seem, but not necessarily... I'll take one in Loudoun County period, Ashburn or otherwise. They could put one off of Rt.15 in Leesburg and I'd be just fine. :)

They could put one in the Wegman's shopping center off of 28 and Waxpool (one could hope/dream).

I think part of the problem of a "cozy cafe" would be volume of sales. They would need to sell a lot of product - especially if people are camping out and nursing a cup of coffee for a couple of hours. That ain't going to pay the rent.

Another thought: a lot of these places are having trouble staying open because there's not enough of a lunch crowd in Ashburn.

*PF Changs - any update if there are still plans for one at Moorefield Station?
*Noodles & Co. - I think there may be plans for one near the new Wegmans?
*Breugger's Bagels - might be a nice addition to this area?
*Corner Bakery - where the Cafe Panache used to be would be a nice spot?
*Bookstore - any plans for one nearby??

actually, yes, that is a rule. CB was opened based on the premise of good home cooked meals for those on the road.

Yes, I worked there. Had to support myself somehow in college....and after college...

There's also a Cracker Barrel in Frederick, MD and one in Williamsburg... The one in Frederick is actually less crowded than the one in Manassas usually is. I'd still prefer one closer to home. :)
