I'm looking for a recommendation on some wheel repair. I managed to nail one of the massive pot holes on gumspring and have bent one of the rims on my car. I've been told there are some companies out there that can get the rim back into round so that I don't have to spend the rediculous amount of money for a new rim.

So if anyone knows of a place please let me know.

    Thanks!

    LOstSOul--

I asked my husband who is very knowledgeable on this matter. First of all, is your wheel rim steel or aluminum? What size is the tire wheel rim, model of your car, and other info? I have information (or my husband does). Just PM me or post on this thread.

Also, you can check out an automobile salvage yards or used junkyard for wheel parts. Here are 2 that hubby recommended. We have used them for our trucks, suvs, and autos in the past and still do. Great service and prices. Do not let the locations deter you from checking it out. They can drop ship UPS or FEDEX also. Just call and tell them your needs and/or concerns. Our boys loves to visit when my husband has gone to purchase recycled and salvaged parts. They do automobiles, suvs, and truck parts.

    Web sites are below--

www.bankstruckandautosalvage.com (Banks' Truck & Auto Salvage Parts site/info. Located in Manassas near Woodbridge/Dumfries areas.)

www.greenleafauto.com (Greenleaf Auto Salvage Parts site/info. One of the BEST recyclers of all car, trucks, suvs, etc. needs available. Former company was called Skip's Auto Parts. Same company just changed company name. Very helpful. Located in Dumfries.)

Both businesses are great. PM me for more info if you need other places.

Kind of a haul, but lots of car enthusiasts swear by the Ye Olde Wheel Shop, 6363 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075, (800) 526-8260, (410) 796-8400

Thanks for the info so far.

They are 17" x 7" Alloy Wheels for a volvo v50. I hit the pot hole about 2 weeks ago and since I was due for new tires I replaced all 4 on the car and still had a serious vibration. Took the car in again today and they rechecked the balance and that's when they found that one of the wheels was out of round. They have put that wheel on the back of the car which has cut down on the vibration but it's still not gone.

I've heard that you can get an alloy wheel fixed for between $100 and $200 from a few people but no one ever has a name or number. :)

Glad you found info helpful. For placing a new or re-used/recycled wheel rim, you might use Dranesville Auto Service in Herndon (afgm referenced their service on another thread regarding tires. We used them before also.) or use Sears Auto Store at Dulles Town Center.

You might also look online for the wheel rims that were made for your car. My husband has a resource list for all our cars/trucks for online ordering. I will let you know if you need more assistance or have him PM you (or anyone else). Luckily for our family, he is DIY-er for cars and homebuilding. Even though he is an Electrical Engineer Manager--he can fix anything on farm, home, or vehicles. (Yes, I am bragging--coming up on our anniversary.)
