Does anyone know if there are any stations nearby that sell kerosene? I drove by several in Ashburn with no luck. I know of two in Leesburg that sell it but I'd rather not have to go that far if I don't need to. Thanks.

Does Home Depot sell kerosene? When I was a teenager, the hardware store I worked in sold kerosene.

Yes Home Depot sells it in gallon containers but I am looking to fill a 5 gallon kerosene container, ie, at a pump. The main reason is you pay about $9 per gallon at Home Depot or about $3 per gallon at the pump.

Call the Shell station on 28, by the Holiday Inn. I'm pretty sure they sell it.

I stopped by there today and unfortunately they don't have it either. It looks like the closest places are going to be in Leesburg, the Shell on Catoctin and the station by Walmart.

Well, shucks. Sorry about that. We have an oil furnace and about 5 years ago, ran out of fuel oil. (Yeah, we were on auto-fill, but I guess that didn't mean a whole lot to our supplier.) Husband was out of town, so my then-18-year-old son and I bought a couple of 5-gallon cans and I thought we bought some kerosene at that Shell station. Maybe we went to Leesburg. (You can burn kerosene in an oil furnace - more expensive and less BTUs - but good when you're in a bind like that.

Not a huge deal. I was going that way already so it wasn't a special trip.

I used to fill up at the gas station on W Church Rd. (Waxpool east of 28). I can't remember the station name but it is the first one on the left past Cascades Parkway. This was a year or two ago. I only use my heater for winter projects in the Garage.

I am familiar with that station. Several years ago I used to commute through there but it's been quite some time since then. I'll have to check it out next time I go that direction. My heater is for the Garage as well. Thanks for the tip.

I was out that way today and confirmed that you are indeed correct. The Texaco on Church a little past the Cascades light has kerosene. While it may not be significantly closer than the Sheetz in Leesburg, it is at least in a direction that I am often heading. Thanks for the pointer!
