I took the photos from inside... looking out the window. I was afraid if opened the door to get closer he'd run away! I'm going to guess this guy was about 6 inches long or so without his tail. I actually couldn't see his tail and don't know how long it is.

Last year we had a blue tailed skink in our yard but this guy's coloring is different and I think he's larger than the skink if memory serves me.

This picture doesn't show it very well, but his cheek and the underside of his chin are red. The rest of him is that brownish color.

Are they native to this area? I've only ever seen a skink in a neighbors terrarium...

What are you doing posting this afternoon? You aren't up in MD with the rest of the escapees from the insane asylum?

Never seen one before and didn't know what a Skink was. we had baby bunnies under our deck, though. And a Yellow Finch sat on our window the other day.

We have these things living in our yard, too. They have dug a zillion holes around our front walk. They scare the bejesus out of me.

We’ve had these take up residence under the walkway outside the front door. They have dug huge holes. If anyone knows how to get rid of them, please let me know!

You might want to see if 'Brit' would let you take one of these off their hands:
