This morning, around 6:15am, as I made my FULL stop (yes officers, a FULL stop:) ) on the end of Wynridge, before my turn to Mooreview - I was once again greeted by the water sprinklers in full blast. Second day in a row - after we got a good soaking the nights before. Why are the water sprinklers on??? Isn't the LCSA asking us to conserve water?

The sprinklers are usually set on a timer. Don't worry, the rain won't last as long as we'd like it to - so we'll need the sprinklers.

Just so you know those Sprinklers are controlled by Van Metre (as are most along the roadways). I have been harping on them for the better part of the last several months because 1) I hate the fact that the road is flooded every morning on my commute (after I spend an hour+ washing the car I'd like it to stay clean if possible for more than 12 hours - petty yes - but a fact :) 2) I sent another note yesterday asking the same question - it rained for a good long time on Sunday night and the ones along Mooreview were flooding the road as usual. I was told that there hadnt been enough rain to set the sensor off - so I gave up - afterall my sensor triggered Sunday night and was still triggered last night before it rained at 6 or so.

At this point I give up. Not our money going down the drain - literally.

The sprinklers on the corner of Village and Claiborne seem to be watering the sidewalk and the street, not the grass.

Funny thing because they have never been on in the mornings before this week. I have to walk my dog on the street so we do not get soaked!

Should we contact someone in Van Meter about re-adjusting them?

Then they need a new sensor, because according to Wes' weather station, we got 1.3 inches of rain Sunday night!!!!!!!

    Heres the exact quote :)
"The system is set up on a rain gauge to turf off when rainfalls are met. The rain that we had last night was not significant enough to not run the system. You scratch down a couple of inches and it is dry. I will follow up as to see the timers are cut back some on the medians. Thank you and let me know if you have any other questions."

They all water into the streets and sidewalks - I've pointed that out too :) I have the same issue - one night its the east side of Claiborne we walk on - the next night it's the west and some nights it has to be both :)

I was walking along Claiborne this morning and had to push the stroller in the street so we wouldn't get soaked. What a goofy set up. I understand that the sprinklers have to overshoot the path in order to water the grass along the street, but is there any way the timers can be set so that they're on overnight when there's less likely to be people on the path?

Ive asked this question in the past and been told (by Van Metre) that because of the number of spinkler zones they cant all run in the middle of the night. They run later in the evening too and bother a lot of folks who are out walking then also.

I figured that it must take several hours to run through all the zones. I wonder if they need to have them all run on the same day/night? Run some Monday night, the next section Tuesday night, the next section Wednesday night...

Why not simply alternate days? I don't try to do my whole yard on one day.

I must learn tp refresh b efore I post when I walk away......
