Here's a shot I took while momma bird was away. She nested in my FAKE plant on my deck in the spring! I watched the babies daily and finally caught them in this candid shot. They heard the click of the camera and thought I was momma bringing them some food!

So I was hoping to get a ton of nice, pretty birds and instead I got this snake in the backyard. Even though it's no where near the size of the snake LSeidmeyer took a picture of, it's still a snake and it was in my backyard. Yuck.

Looks like a common garter snake.beautiful!
Looks like he's busy keeping the rodents out of your yard.

Don't kill the snake or interfeer with it. It likes to eat things you probably don't like.

She was a robin...most of the babies made it out to the wild blue yonder. One, unfortunately, got pushed out by brothers and sisters, I believe, and ended up in birdie heaven :-(

So adorable!! My first thought when I saw the picture was Robin. It's so fun to watch, but sad when something goes wrong.

Nothing went wrong, all part of nature.

Some other lifeform was able to feed its babies with this one dead robin.

Such is nature nothing is wasted.

Hey guys - I've been meaning to post these pictures of these cute squirrels on our back patio! We were having our garage finished and had to put a container of bird seed on the back patio. The squirrels managed to open the lid and stick their heads in the container to eat. They did not care that my cat Lucy was watching. They were little pigs - but cute.

The pics might be a little blurry b/c I was attempting to take the pictures thru the screen door.

Here is my contribution - a deer that thinks he's a bird, and some frogs too tame for their own good.

Speaking of the wetlands pix ... what do you call those birds? Informal poll.

    Snowy Photo Ops

    Hi all,
The recent cold, snowy snap caught some spring birds by surprise. A friend of mine in town from London snuck up on an Eastern Bluebird and what we think is a baby Robin (based on markings, since it's too small to be an adult Robin, according to whatbird.com).
    Enjoy:
