Has anyone had this done and would recommend a compnay to do the work? The sun beats on the front of the house and it bakes it. Would it look bad to just do the top windows? Can you tell if one window is tinted from the next? Does it make the room darker at all? Did you notice a difference before / after regarding temperature in your home? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Originally we went w/ Next Day Blinds for the 1st round of Plantation shutters (way too pricey)

about 2 years ago we used budget blinds for Window Tinting, Plantation Shutters & Wood blinds

http://www.budgetblinds.com/Ashburn/ - Greg Powers is the owner and a great guy (use to work with him @ a Tech co a few years back)

Since most of the windows VM installed are lowE, but still let in UV rays - our dark cherry floors & antiques started to look "bleached" so we had UV film installed - didn't notice a "darkening" in the rooms and you can't tell what window has the tint.

As for the temps - we close our wood blinds & plantation shutters during the extreme temps (summer & winter)...we did notice a our HVAC bills did go down.

Thanks I got the number from the website. We close the blinds / shutters too but sometimes forget. Best thing we put in the house was a remote controlled blind over the huge foyer window. That pretty much stays shut all summer.

The back of our house faces south so we get sun all year round. We had window tinting installed by Atlantic Sun Control. It helps alot esp. with uv protection. You can tell if a window is tinted if the one next to is not but if all are done it's hard to notice. We also did skylights. There are a number of different choices of tint and the sales person will recommend which to use based on what direction the window faces and how you use the room. Their number is 703-729-4664 and our sales person was Chris Martin. He was very knowledgable and no pressure.

One important note: installing film usually invalidates the window manufacturer's warranty on the windows. They sell a policy that provides a lifetime warranty if something goes wrong with the windows. The film is already covered in the purchase price.
