We live on Windy Oaks Sq in Southern Walk and we can't BELIEVE what the people 3 doors up have done to the front of their townhome.

First, they have a huge tarp they've hung from the windows to the front of their driveway. Next, they have picnic tables AND a plastic swimming pool (I kid you not) in the FRONT of their townhome on the little grass they have. They also have some huge flag hanging off the tarp.

Aren't there HOA guidelines and regulations about these things and what can we do?

Have you talked to your neighbor?

If not - I did this morning and yes there is a tarp up with a German flag & picinic tables in the driveway - NO this is NOT a frat house.

The European Football (scoccer) tourney is this weekend and he has converted his garage into a screening room. Tarp is up for the extreme heat and he plans to remove it by 5PM today.

I don't want to speak for the HOA or the Modifications Comm (of which I am a member) - however IMO this is similar to birthday parties with moon bounces. He put it up yesterday at 5PM and plans to take it down by tonight (maybe 26 hours in total time).

I hope this answers any questions.

I don't think that is 100% true. It was up last weekend all weekend. I remember seeing that but during the week it was gone. I didn't think much of it, but let's wait and see.

    Thanks Pea!!!

    Dear neighbors,

    Thanks for your Comments.
We are the Fraternity Presidents. Just kidding!

We apologize if we went too far. This is the European Soccer Tournament 2008, which takes place every four years, like the World Cup. We have set up a projector and a big screen. We will have a BBQ today. Later this afternoon everything will be torn down.

Lioness2001: Feel free to speak to us directly, if you think that anything is against any HOA rules.

Neighbors, you are invited to watch Germany vs. Poland at 2:45 this afternoon, just bring your steaks.

    B&B

And for anyone who doesn't understand the Euro 2008, this statement (from Slate) sums it up:

"On Saturday, the curtain lifts on the UEFA European Soccer Championship, a quadrennial rite that sublimates centuries of murderous nationalism into three weeks of slide tackles and corner kicks."

And I think we're all looking forward to the June 17th match b/t France and Italy. Rematch, baby!!

I'm glad I'm not trying to sell or rent my house on this street this weekend.

But I'm a geek - that goodness the webbernets are up.

I'm all for a good party and rooting on the favorite team. Heck, I would bring the beer!

But I'm just not up for letting the neighborhood look shabby with some huge tarp and a kiddie pool in the front yard. Basements and backyards work well for that kind of stuff.

OMG - This is TEMPORARY stuff you're complaining about! I don't see the big deal (and yes, I live in SW townhomes too).

Hmm Bah humbugs...if they had space in the back i'd bet it'd be there anyway...this is sort of what I think about the blands...too many complainers instead of good neighbors...the kind you do barbecues and gatherings. too many takers too few givers....

...you're right the homeowner did mention he had it set up last weekend as well, sorry I didnt mention it in my earlier post - I was addressing the immediate concern.

When I talked with him this morning - he understood the concern was very humble and reiterated it would be put away tonight.

    GO GERMANY - enough said...
