Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but I don't know much about network connections. I am having a problem connecting to the internet via wireless on my work laptop. It will typically search for available networks and then automatically connect to our secured network. Tonight, I had trouble connecting and when I viewed the list of available networks, ours wasn't even on the list. Is this a network issue? modem issue? Not exactly sure who to call for help about this issue.

Did u try the "usual suspects"? If not, u can try the following. It might fix the issue:
    1. Disable the wireless on ur laptop and then enable it back again.
    2. Power cycle the wireless router.

Our wireless router has a setting to hide our computer name so that when people search for a connection our router does not show up on the list. You probably haven't made any changes to that setting on yours (or you would know, right?) but you can check. I'm not sure how you attach if your router doesn't show up in the list. Can you just type it in? We don't use our wireless connection enough to know...

I'm no computer guru either, but apparently we lost power on Saturday. Our wireless connections were hosed because of the loss of power and our network wasn't even listed when I tried to re-connect. I fixed the problem by unplugging the router from the jack AND the power. I left it off for about 15 seconds, plugged everything back in, and like magic everything reappeared.
