Hi, this is Elizabeth Coe with the Loudoun Times-Mirror. For our Jan. 2 edition we're putting together an editorial "Wish List for Loudoun County."

I was wondering if anyone wanted to throw out some ideas for what you think your community / the county needs. We'll collect the ideas at the end of this year and put together a list of the most popular.

    Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Taxi cabs that do more than go to the Airport would be nice, especially once the metro goes west.

How about a public transit system that extends out to the 'burbs?

How about traffic lights that get ectivated BEFORE a major/fatal injury?

How about putting some planning in BEFORE building office/retail/flex space?

And maybe more than one way to get from Ashburn/Boradland to Rt 28 that doesn't rip $3 out of your pocket?

I wish for the approval of the HCA Hospital, so we can all benefit from the value of a competitive healthcare environment.

Roads, roads and roads. How 'bout an alternative to Rt 28 instead of Waxpool? Too much to ask? How 'bout turning off some of the lights on Waxpool between Ashburn and Rt 28 (like the one by the "new" Shell)?

    I second that.

As for ashburn, I think we could use a classy bowling alley like Lucky Strike. And a nice hobby shop. But those are businesses and way far off from the cookie cutter food business that is around here.

    1) HCA Hospital (in a logical location)
    2) Youth/Recreation Center
    3) More LSCO Deputies assigned in sector 360 and/or a sub-station
    4) Logical traffic management/flow - establishment of WaxPool taskforce etc
    5) Better/More training for community volunteers for potential pandemic/epidemic incidents

Build complete roads instead of "partial ones" like Moorefield Parkway, Claiborne Parkway, Croson Lane, etc.

I second providing another alternative to Rt. 28 instead of Waxpool. Currently, we have to go north to get to waxpool to go south on rt. 28. Crazy!

Also, it'd be great if we actually had some nice parks around here too.

There is a good bowling alley in Dranesville, about 10-15 minutes away.

I've been there. It is nothing compared to a place like Lucky Strike.

There is one in sterling (near drainsville/rt7 interchange) and one in Ashburn across from where Dicks used to be (south of the mall)

With the megastores taking over all the craft part of hobby.. and the internet for availability - I doubt you'll see anything more then this type of store anymore.
