Took my young children walking on the walkway in the nature preserve the other day and noticed two places where wooden posts/slats were knocked out, thus making big gaping holes, through which a small child could potentially fall down into the water. The posts/slats were laying below in the plants and water. I take it from all the signs that Van Metre owns the nature preserve? How do I contact them to see if they are aware of this and can fix it?
Also, wanted to let folks know, if you walk there with little kids, please be careful. I didn't even notice the first one, my 5 year old pointed it out to me.

Denise Harrover from Van Metre is the best person to contact. Her email address is dharrover@vanmetrecompanies.com. Just send her an email and let her know approximately where the slats are missing and she is normally good at getting it fixed quickly.

I've brought this issue up to Denise at the last two Board meetings. Copy me on what you send her so that I can follow-up at the Board meeting next week. I actually went out and took pictures of all the warped boards, etc, and was going to hand her a 'packet' this time around.

Who's good with photoshop? superimpose a child's body falling through the hole- that'll send a message! :notfunny:

    Thanks.
Eric, I sent her basically the same thing in my post above, but described that the knocked out posts were located:
    1. on the dock
    2. near the stone bridge

Thanks for following up with this. I appreciate it.

No problem; I'll touch base with Denise next Tuesday and see if she can provide me with any status. I'll head over to the walkway/boardwalk this weekend and take some updated pictures as well.
