Personally I hope the Federal Govt puts a stop to Metro in it's current form. I'm tired of paying for the toll road (and basically subsidizing the cost of Metro). I am not totally opposed to Metro - just in making the commuters of the toll road pay for it. If the developers in Tysons and the Airport want to pay for it - have at it.

In any case, here is an email I received from "www.dullesfreeway.org" an organization set up to oppose the abusive tolls being charged to those of us that have no real alternative.

Anyway - hope some of the folks on here that hate the tolls as much as I do will lend your and sign the petition.

    Dear Dulles Freeway supporter:

Our website (http://dullesfreeway.org) is updating the mailing list
we established to oppose the unnecessary hikes to use the Toll Road.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Now that federal money for Dulles Rail looks unavailable, it is time for
us to redouble our efforts to tear down the toll plazas and remove tolls
once and for all. There is a real opportunity for us to improve mobility
and lower our costs of doing business, all at the same time.

Please help us to make sure we can contact you as needed for the various
campaigns that are forthcoming, by following the instructions below.

The preferred configuration for the (former) Toll Road is just that
being implemented for the Beltway, with four free general purpose lanes
on the outside, plus 2/3 time of day tolled inner lanes (managed for
congestion relief and free for airport traffic). At the same time, we
need to upgrade the (former) Toll Road to federal interstate standards
and by removing the jersey barriers, improve incident management.

The Dulles Rail plan, if implemented, would cost all of us $1 million a
day. This is for a a rail and road system that the promoters admit would
both only average 25 miles per hour!

A little time spent now will save us immense time and money for the rest
of our lives. Thanks for your support. Tell your friends about us, too.

From the updated site, we now link to PetitionOnline.com to register
our protest at the higher taxes Dulles Rail would entail. This is the
same system that garnered 172,000 signatures and defeated the abuser-fee
    law.

    Cordially,

    Chris Walker
