Yard Debris & Recycling Do's and Don'ts

    People, please don't put plastic bags in your large paper leaf bags for yard debris collection. And definitely don't put your dog poop in there.

    They contaminate the yard compost.

    Throw them in the trash.

    BTW, you can throw fruits, vegetables in with your yard debris as part of the compost process. Patriot allows it.

    No meats, etc.

    Also, pizza boxes shouldn't be recycled as cardboard. Any grease or food contaminates it, so throw it away in the trash. Maybe the top flap doesn't get anything on it, then you could tear that part off and recycle.

    And one more thing, throw out the bottle caps and lids to plastic bottles you recycle. It's a totally different, hard plastic that doesn't get recycled and has to be cut off. So throw the caps and lids in the trash.
