I've done some yard work the last couple of weeks and have put out paper bags full of yard junk along with the recylce. I've done this for the last two weeks and no one has come by to pick it up. Have they started collecting yard waste yet or do they only do it during certain months of the year?

Put it out with your regular trash. We did that on a few occasions over the last several weeks and they picked it up with no problems. I don't think the recycle people have anywhere to put yard stuff.

If it's convenient for you the landfill is nearby and very reasonable on its fees. Here is a link for you hope it helps, I have taken waste there before and recall seeing people bring in yard waste. http://www.loudoun.gov/oswm/landfill.htm

The last two years they come and pick up your lawn wastes on wednesdays. I dont think they've started picking it up yet, but I could be wrong. I usually leave my lawn clippings out there and some pruned brush clippings as well and they always take it.

They do come AFTER the normal recycling guys (at least here) so they're a different truck. I seem to recall that there is a limited season. Cliff, Wes? when do they start pickup?

Thanks for the replies. They picked up mine this Wednesday morning also. Maybe they only start doing it in April.

Just a "heads up" to those of you crazy enough to be working out in your yards in this weather:)....BRRR...until the first Wednesday in April (4-5-06) yardwaste will be picked up with regular trash...Please don't set it put on Tues night...It will not be picked up until Friday

    Thank you..

I put a bag of leaves in with our trash last week and when they picked up the trash on Tues they removed that bag from the trash container and left it on the curb. It was picked up on Wed. Also I noticed quite a few people had yard waste bags out this week which were picked up either later in the day yesterday or first thing this morning so it does appear that they are still picking up yard waste on recycling day.

Weird ... but we should count our blessings ... service from AAA has been slow to say the least, erratic at best.

Contractually, AAA is not required to pick up yard waste after the 2nd Wed in Jan...but I guess the "trickle down" effect has not yet kicked in...
