what time? i have found a difference of up to 15 minutes leaving at 8am, 8:10, 8:30- if i leave at 8:30 it's typically less traffic from LoCo to Waxpool than 8:10, but then 28 seems worse. I can't take the chance on 8:30 b/c if it IS backed up, then I'm late to work.

Do you cross over the greedway? I mean do you stay only on the south side of the freeway from map or you go to the north of the freeway?

Nah, there is no way going that far south actually saves time if the measure is to get to Rt28/Tollroad. It's only 5 mins for me to get to brambleton/ryan rd from here... but getting down to arcola takes closer to 15-20 during normal traffic. The light at evergreen can be a REAL bear too.

Going Turo Parish - Belmont - Evergreen - Old Ox - Rt 28 is almost 14 miles. And it's not fast either :)

The only way I can think is something in the backside of brambleton that somehow gets back to old ox. That's the only way to go south and be worth it. Going all the way to evergreen is too far.

looking on googlemaps I don't see anything even possible...must be a road recently constructed that's not on the map yet

PLEASE TELL US (or at least PM those who ask you to) - I leave at 7:20 anyway so I won't be in your way ;-)

There are no new short cuts across Broad Run. You have:
Rte 7, Waxpool, Greenway, or Evergreen Mill to go around it to the south.
If you take out Waxpool and Greenway, that leaves going up to Rte 7 to the north, or Evergreen Mill to 606 or 50 to the south.
If Westwind would ever get built, then you'd have a creek crossing to get from LCP to 606.

So this was just a childish game? There is no shortcut? Strange.

not a game, i really DO have a great route. but... i guess I AM kinda going :naanaa:"Iii've got a seeecret, nana nana boo boo... lol" :naanaa: not cool... I'll stop!

    here it is:
i take a Smith Switch past the ICE house, which is dirt road, I cut through business plaza and take LoCo Pwky either to Rt 7 then hit 28, or if the line up isn't too long, to Waxpool to pick up 28. it might be a mile or two longer BUT the driving time and level of frustration is MUUUUCH less.

if my little shortcut becomes clogged i am going to blame THIS forum for weakening my resolve! ;)

well there you get to dodge the speed bumps (cutting in the backside of the business park) and if you are trying to go south... that shortcut takes you the entirely wrong direction or throws you into the LCP/Waxpool light from the worst side.

I think you have more of an psychological victory there then a time one :) but thanks for sharing.

Using Ashburn village to LCP is still better if you are heading to Rt28 S or Tollroad IMHO. The south side of the LCP light is much higher capacity and skips the same 2 lane portion of waxpool and requires waiting at one less light (smith switch). Plus the entire thing is at speed where the 'shortcut' is not.

Driving down that dirt road on a daily basis? No thanks. I give a crap about my car. Hope it's worth the re-alignment and tire costs for you.

we drove that way every time when our kids had gymnastics back there on the circle. It's great to avoid the LCP light... but only for when you are heading north or into the business park :)

You only drive on the dirt road for about 200 yards. But the speed bumps when they added them into the park is annoying.
