Default Silver Spring

Are there any carpoolers around here that go out to Silver Spring? Particularly, the Techill complex out 29 past Tech Rd...? Metro seems to take way too long to commute there.

I just bought a house, I don't want to move again! Three times in two years is enough.
I'm happy living in Broadlands, but there's not much work locally in my field.

So, a different question: is there a local bus that goes to a nearby Metro station if I wanted to commute via Metro, or is there a bus that goes all the way out to Silver Spring from here (or close to there)? I can think of Fairfax Connector or Loudoun Transit -- for the sake of argument, let's say I don't have a car....

Isn't there a Park and Ride in Reston or Herndon, right off the Toll Road? I believe you can park there and there's a bus that takes you to Metro. Honestly, I've never used it, but you can see the Park and Ride from the Toll Road, on the right, going East.

Here's what I found doing a quick search; not sure if this will help:

Okay, here's the scoop. Take the Loudoun County Commuter bus to Rosslyn and jump on the metro to Silver Spring. It's probably the most direct option aside from carpooling.

my wife used the park&ride in Herndon when we lived there--and it was great. On the return trip home, a bus transfer from the metro station got you a discount bus trip. Sure beat sitting in traffic--and the bus from the park and ride heads straight to West Falls Church.
She thought about the LoCo commuter bus, but i think it picks up over in Sterling, which was out of the way to get there---so she kept driving to the Herndon P&R until she stopped working in DC.

What's the field that you have to drive to Silver Spring?

So you commute regularly to both Silver Spring, Laurel, and Springfield (based on your other posts)? You must spend a lot of time in the car!

I commute to Columbia, MD four days a week. I carpool with two other coworkers from Ashburn area. My manager lets us work four ten-hour shifts a week. So far is good.
