Default Eggspectation in Leesburg

I've been meaning to try Eggspectation in Leesburg since I'm a bit of a breakfast fan. I knew that it was expensive but come on!!

Food was excellent but $12.99 for 2 eggs, corned beef hash, potatoes and toast? Then add $2.79 for bottomless coffee and with state and local tax, my bill was $17. As I said, the food was excellent but this should have been a $7.99 entree plus $1.75 coffee. It's no wonder that only one other table was occupied at 8:30AM. Prime breakfast time. I sincerely hope that they re-visit their pricing because they will not be able to survive with 2 guests for breakfast.

Agreed. Food was pretty good, but not good enough to come back again for those prices. They must think they are set up in one of the wealthiest counties in the US or something ;-)

Leesburg has an additional restaurant fee (that's why if you get food from Wegman's they ask you if it's too eat there or to carry out- if you eat there you have to pay the extra tax). It can really add up- it's a noticable extra expense.

i have to disagree- i think egspectation food is quality is beyond ihop pricing. it cost more but it's worth more. maybe not THAT much more, but definitely worth a premium for higher quality eats... just my 4 cents... inflation ya know...

I guess that I'm used to a place in Illinois where we used to live called Blueberry Hill. It was the greatest place for breakfast with creative dishes i.e. specialty pancakes, skillets omelets etc. Food was fantastic, plentiful and so reasonable. I think that $12.99 for a good quality breakfast is crazy (unless it includes a mimosa) and if you ordered the steak and eggs, get ready to shell out $16.99. Ouch.

If you look at it at a 'high level', the cost of living in the Washington DC area is about 16-18% higher than it is in the Chicago, IL area. Factor that in, as well as inflation since you moved from IL and it's probably not that far off...

That being said, as Redon mentioned, Eggspectation is considered a higher than average quality breakfast place. Certainly not the best, but definitely a notch above a iHop for example. They're usually packed to the gills during lunch.

We had never eaten there due to the pricing, but a Groupon or Living Social coupon came out several months ago and we tried it and really liked it.
We have only been back once--on a Monday--for kids eat free.
Discovered that the kids steak is the same size as one of the adult steak entrees and you essentially get the same thing, but a drink is included with the kids entree.
So... On a Monday evening you can get a decent priced meal for four! Other than that we'd never eat there.
If you like Eggspectation and ever travel to the Baltimore area, the one in Columbia has a running restaurant.com coupon. I wish they'd do that here

Eggspectation is delicious but the prices are ridiculous. Go to Amvrosia by Chipotle instead... you'll save on gas too!
