Default Urban BBQ - anyone tried?

Last night I noticed that Urban BBQ has opened a few doors down from the DQ in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center. I love good 'que - anyone tried it yet?

Yes! I'm not from Texas and I'm no expert, but I really liked the pork. My husband ordered the chicken so we could try them both, and we both preferred the pork. They have different sauces depending on if you prefer Carolina style or Kansas City, etc.

Give it a try and see what you think! They have Lost Rhino on tap too, which is always a good thing!

I think the food was quite good! A great addition to Ashburn. Easy for families. I liked the pulled pork a lot. They have nice smoke rings, but I think I actually like the ribs better. They also have a great beer selection (on tap too). Their mac n cheese and mashed potatoes are very rich, but so good.

OK, just got back from having lunch there. My observations:

1. Nice varied menu - BBQ, plus burgers, chili, etc.
2. I tried the ribs and pulled pork - both were very good - nice smoke, tender ribs without being too much fall off the bone (a good rib will have a bit of bite to it), nice crusty bits on the pulled pork.
3. Sides (collards and potato salad, plus tried my wife's cole slaw) were very good - cole slaw has a hint of mustard in it; potato salad is red potatoes, nice big chunks; collards had been cooked with ham hock or pork - nice smoky flavor.
4. Corn bread was so-so - a little on the sweet side for me.
5. Service - nice, very quick. It is an order at the counter and pick up your food when the call your name kind of place - paper plates; plastic forks, etc.

Now, while the food was good, the prices are a bit steep. Burgers are 7 oz and are over $10. Small sides (a small cup) are $2.99. Slice of Key Lime Pie is $5.50. BBQ plates with 2 sides and corn bread at around $10 are probably the best deal. But for an order at the counter kind of place, I thought the prices were a little too high.

Been there twice now...the beef brisket is better than the pulled pork.

Been there once and will go back. We tried the brisket and ribs, both were good but I preferred the brisket. Cornbread and baked beans were ok. I would recommend the soul rolls with the chili cheese dip. Looking forward to trying the pulled pork next time. As mentioned by others, the beer on tap was very good. Doesn't get a lot better than good beer and bbq.

Before everyone gets too excited and then disappointed and posting bad reviews, I'd like to say that the food isn't THAT outstanding. It's good, the people are nice, and I like it (it's better than Bluz Brothers), but don't go thinking it's going to completely blow you away. Whenever we all start posting great reviews of someplace new the complaints start rolling in because people's expectations were way too high.

Want some good BBQ, good service, good beer on tap, and a nice local place to go? This is your place. Outside of Texas, anyway. :-)
