YUCK - thank you for posting. I just threw out this product and now the mystery of why both of my dogs seems so sick after I gave them this treat has been solved.

Oh my gosh! So glad it wasn't fatal.

Anyone who has an oven or dehydrator can make their own chicken jerky. Omit the garlic if you feel it is unsafe for your pooch. Two recipes can be found at this link.

It is interesting, I purchased duck jerky and duck/sweet potato jerky treats for our dog a few weeks ago and he has been acting a bit odd and eating grass for about that long. My husband was teasing me that it was because I bought him gourmet treats, but maybe there is more to it....

My experience with my two dogs, is if they are eating grass it's their attempt to make themselves purge what ever they ate prior. I hope your pooch is okay and I am so thankful for KTdid - post. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what made my dogs sick.

Thumbs down Re: Chicken Jerky UPDATE

More illnesses and deaths reported... http://vitals.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20...-owners-report

FDA issued a "cautionary" warning: http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/.../ucm280586.htm

It appears the offending jerky "no brand" and "made in China" could be recalled and pulled from shelves until the issue is resolved. This is similar to the salmonella in dog food reported recently. The advice? Owner should wash their hands And the dog....?

Thank you so much for posting this! I just threw out a package of chicken jerky made in China.

Last year around Thanksgiving, my dog became horribly sick. At the time, we thought he found something out in the yard to eat that was "previously alive" quite awhile earlier. In retrospect, though, he had eaten chicken or duck jerky around that time.

You're welcome Charlotte. The FDA knew about the jerky several years ago but could not difinitively ID the culprit, so they never recalled it. It makes one wonder how many dogs died before their press release. The same can be said for the infant formula recently recalled.

I hope your dog is okay.
