Doesn't surprise me at all. I often wondered why everyone goes to Starbucks. Their coffee is nasty IMO. Believe me - I've tried it several times, thinking maybe it was a bad batch....and each time I waste money because I throw it out....it's so strong. Now I do like their Chai Tea, but with Dunkin Donuts opening....I'll go there. Their coffee is wonderful, among other things!

b/c it's "cool" to carry around a starbucks cup with the little finger-saving cardboard thingy on it. doesn't matter the crap inside is garbage if you pay $5.25 for it.

I've said it for year,DD coffee is much better than Starbucks. Starbucks is really bitter, and depending on where you go, they burn it quite often.

But most people do not go to Starbucks for coffee, they go for the lattes.

Hey I support Christinaandrob. I don't know peeps, and I got to Starbucks - not for Java, I'm a tea reader. I love their Chai Tea Latte and Carmel Apple Cider....That is if the person on the shift can actually make it right that day...now if DD can make those two things, I'm their - but forget the donuts...I groaned when I saw that. Shove it in my face when I am on the way down on the scale. OY!

My neighbor in New Hampshire was the "Prince of DD" and owned the franchise for the Seacoast Area. (yes, I know that NH only has 17 miles of seacoast, but we are proud of it). About 50% of DD Donuts are made off premise...at another store owned by the franchisee.
And they do make specialty drinks at DD. And they are pretty good. With a DD, with a drive-through, just down the street, my mornings will become more expensive as my coffee drinking will move from my house to my car.

Still cheaper than a mocha at starbucks, which is the best mocha anywhere. Yummy, but 400 calories and almost $5 !
