Default LCSO Investigating Reported Home Invasion in Area of Stone Bridge High School

LCSO just sent this out:

The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a reported home invasion at a residence in the area of Claiborne Parkway near Stone Bridge High School of Ashburn.

As a precaution Stone Bridge High School was put on lockdown for a brief period of time. At this time Stone Bridge High School is monitoring exterior doors.

Two suspects left the home in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.

More details will be released as they become available

I just took my daughter to Hillside and they hurriedly got all the kids inside and were ushering them off the buses. No kids outside for recess right now either.

Maybe I am missing something here, but what does a home invasion have to do with the schools? Someone breaking into a house is most likely looking for something to steal.

this would be another day as usual in some other school systems. Perhaps a wake up call here. or perhaps a lot of construction people out of work and know your neighborhood and home better then you do. Most construction people are honest and hardworking but there is that other element that gets out of prison and these were the only jobs they can get and you all are worried about immigrants well that is just part of a complex thing with construction. Now work has slowed and these people still have to survive. makes you think a little harder what the no growth and a slow down in construction has in a way of side effects. Not saying this had any thing to do with what I just said. But crime and construction has a tendency to go hand and hand especially during slowdowns. just food for thought.

A home invasion isn't simply someone breaking into a house to 'steal' something. As defined on the Wikipedia site:

"Home invasion is the crime of entering a private and occupied dwelling, with the intent of committing a crime, often while threatening the resident of the dwelling."

So, say there's a home invasion in the vicinity of a school. Say the perpetrators were armed. Now, let's assume the police is rushing over there and the perps attempt a getaway. They're going to try to drive/run/fly/swim anywhere in order to get away. They might even fire some shots.

Do you want your child, or anyone else's child, anywhere outside in the vicinity while this is going on?

I think it's a good idea to err on the side of caution and lock down the school and minimize the risk to children and anyone else in the schools.

Sure, and I blame the construction downturn as the reason why Microsoft Vista sales figures suck so bad.

MAN! With as many wake-up calls as you are calling for Lee, our alarms would be going off 24x7 for a week!

I would get no sleep!

UPDATE

Loudoun County, Virginia- A 17-year-old Ashburn female who reported Wednesday morning that she was a victim of a home invasion has admitted she made a false report.

The victim called authorities to her home in the 43230 block of Brookford Square around 10:30 AM. The teenager said that two unknown male suspects entered the home and implied they had a firearm.

Sheriff Deputies canvassed the area and began an investigation into the incident. Nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown due to their proximity to the residence.

Late this afternoon the female told investigators the incident never occurred.

Investigators will review the case with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney to determine if the teenager will be charged with filing a false police report.
